Page 4 Pike Press T he Gamma Chi Chapter has been active this spring as we try to climb and improve on recent success. We have made it a focus to continually improve ourselves in the classroom, as well as our extracurricular events. We are at Oklahoma State first and foremost to get a degree, so we strive for everyone to be successful and have a chapter GPA of a 3.0 or above. We pride ourselves on representing the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity across campus by holding leadership positions in multiple organizations. Members have participated in a number of sorority philanthropic events and hosted our own this spring, benefitting the Cycle for Life Taylor Trudeau. In April, we hosted over 200 alumni as we dedicated the new house and held our annual alumni banquet in the O Club of Gallagher Iba Arena. In the spring of 2016, the chapter earned our highest GPA in history—a 3.08—ranking Gamma Chi 12th on campus and among all fraternities. We are proud to say in the fall of 2016 we improved on that and achieved a new personal best with a 3.12 GPA. This average topped that of the male non- Greek average and was good enough to rank in the top 10 among fraternities. It was our goal to move into the top 10, and now we look to progress into the top five, and eventually earn the top GPA on campus. We have access to many resources, including mentor programs for different majors, access to the University Academic Success Center, help with registering for classes, and various guest speakers and seminars held throughout the school year. This spring, we held our inaugural Pedaling with Pike philanthropic event benefitting Cycle for Life Taylor Trudeau Foundation. This event was a success in its first year, as we raised money for the foundation. Spring recruitment was successful for the chapter as Gamma Chi signed 11 men. This, combined with 38 of the best men initiated in the fall, will be important in the success of our chapter for years to come. We look to take these young men and groom them to exemplify SLAG. We pride ourselves on the leadership displayed by our members. The following are great examples of our implanted leadership at Oklahoma State University: vice president of the Student Government Association; president of Order of Omega Honors Society; president of Sports Management Club; chairman of Into the Streets, Homecoming Big, Homecoming Steering committees, as well as Varsity Revue and Spring Sing Steering committees; one athlete on the varsity football team; two varsity athletes on the track and field team; and club athletes in sports of golf, hockey, swim, and lacrosse. Our chapter truly embodies the A in SLAG as we compete in intramurals. We excel in football, basketball, soccer, and softball, as well as participate in many more. We are proud to have won the championship for men's A flag football and to have made it to the finals for men's A basketball this year. As we close the spring semester, I am beyond proud of where this chapter stands and confident in where it is headed. It makes me proud as president to see the men of this chapter excel in everything they do. With the combination of great undergraduates and the best alumni support, many great things lie ahead for Gamma Chi Chapter.
