September 19, 2012 By Shanana Rain Golden-Bear Quartzsite, Arizona - A Los Angeles fi lm crew recently spent the day inter- viewed locals for a possible documen- tary on Quartzsite and the our famous snowbird and vendor population. Producer Shaun O'hollaren of Fiddler's Bay Productins and videog- rapher Nick Fabiano toured the town and interviewed fi ve residents for an upcoming documentary. Most inter- views were done outside as the skies were so blue. Ratzen- berger is best known for his role as the postal work, Cliff Clavin in Cheers, and his recurring sup- porting cast roles in Pixar fi lms. He's known as "Pixar's Lucky Charm." Ratzenberger also raises awareness for the trades and skilled workers in the U.S. O'hollaren and his team will be pitching the project in New York City executives in a few weeks. O'hollaren gave a brief presen- tation to the Quartzsite Town Council in June, 2012. Dept. of Justice won't interfere with town ordinance barring Foster The Town of Quartzsite received notifi cation from the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division, United States Department of Justice that the Attorney General of the United States will not "interpose any objection to town Ordi- nance 09-15, which was prohibits anyone who owes the town delinquent fi nes, fees or taxes, from serving in elected town offi ces. This section was used by the Common Council of the Town of Quartzsite to judge Edward L. Foster, who garnered the most votes in the May 15th, 2012 mayoral election, disqualifi ed from holding the position. Foster owes the towns attorney fees imposed by the Superior Court as a penalty when Foster fi led an unsuccessful suit against the Town in 2011 at- tempting to get the Courts to stop his recall from offi ce. Foster requested a Writ of Mandamus (Latin "we command") from La Paz County Superior Court ordering the town to seat him as Mayor, which was delayed until the DOJ offered its opinion on the ordinance. Arguments will be presented on Sept. 19th at 1:30pm in La Paz County Superior Court in Parker.
