Smit will be returning to Readers' Oasis in early October with director and host Stef Biemans and cameraman Teus Sintmaartensdijk. The VPRO, considered the most "culturally radical" group on Dutch television, is famous for its much-ap- plauded youth television. Their new- est project is a children's road trip in the United States between Los An- geles and Miami. They look forward to meeting interesting people, tell- ing stories about American culture, nature and lifestyles. The journey will be made by prize winning host and director Stef Biemans, popular among the Dutch children. Stef has a special goal on his trip: to collect donations for Nicara- guan children. Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in Latin America, 46% of the Nicaraguans has to man- age with less than 1 dollar a day. Stef lives in Nicaragua and came up with the idea to use this journey to look for a helping hand for those in need. He will be pleased with anything people are willing to donate, from an old baseball glove to a used toy; Stef will personally deliver the goods to the Nicaraguan people. VPRO TV is based in Hilversum, The Netherlands. They are a Dutch national non-commercial televi- sion station authorized by the Dutch Ministry of Culture. As reportering on news and current affairs, they are frequently compared to the BBC. Please drop off toys for Nicaraguan children to Readers Oasis Bookstore. For more information, call Paul Winer at 928-927-6551. | S R G-B QES Students of the Month After the 9/11 Ceremony on September 11th, the Quartzsite Elementary School (QES) September Students of the Month were honored.
