Page 4 Hello Neighbors, Thank you to everyone for cooper- ating with each other in the recent storms. So many people came out to help and take care of your neighbors. You are what makes Quartzsite a great place to live. I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank Quartzsite Public Works em- ployees for all your help during the recent storms. All your hard work is really appreciated. Also the new directional arrows at the Post Offi ce Annex are helpful for driv- ers entering Plymouth Rd. This will help direct the traffi c better. www.DesertMessenger.com THE PEOPLE'S VOICE that they have not done a good job. We can only do this once every four years. Elected offi cials are not entitled to more than a four year term, they are not entitled to treat us as if we are sub- servient to them and they are not enti- tled to put their own agendas ahead of those of the people whom they serve. Just remember WE ARE THE BOSS Patricia Anderson Quartzsite Town Council panderson@ci.quartzsite.az.us Bye for now, Residents of La Paz County Now that the primary is over, some of us have new choices to make in the general election. There is one thing that I believe that so many of our elected offi cials have forgotten, not only our County Of- fi cials, but also those at the state and national levels as well. What they have forgotten is that as elected offi cials they are supposed to work for "we the peo- ple." The good news is, however that "we the people" have the opportunity to FIRE the elected offi cials if we feel LETTERS TO EDITOR POLICY Desert Messenger encourages letters from its readers. William "Squeak" Kossnar Grandson's death questioned My grandson, Ethan Martin, 22, was killed in Koragay, Afghanistan August 7, 2012 while serving in the Army. There have been several confl icting reports of how Ethan was killed, from a Humvee accident to an ambush at a guard house to a training accident. None of those were correct. The Army has ordered the family to report only that Ethan was killed by small arms fi re in a fi re fi ght with the enemy. This is not true and is politi- cally correct "spin" only! They don't want the American public to lose sym- pathy for the "poor, underprivileged" Afghanistan people. The truth is that his death was a re- sult of "Blue on Green". That is a mili- tary term that means that "friendly" Afghanistan Soldiers and Police, in lem, but search for the solution to share with the community, keeping the beneit of all in mind. Quartzsite Licensed Business 928-927-5479 Call Richard uniform, turn on U.S. soldiers and kill them in an unprovoked attack, while pretending to be friends with our troops. Ethan was leading a squad of "friendly" Afghanistan nationals to a training station when they opened fi re on him from behind with AR-15 rifl es that were provided to them by the US Army so they could protect their own country. They shot Ethan multiple times in the back, killing him. They also wounded three other American soldiers in that cowardly attack from a few short steps behind Ethan's back. The one that killed Ethan escaped but is being hunted. They know who he is. The others were wounded or captured. This sneaky tactic, pretending to be allies, has been used several times re- cently by those Muslim Al Queda ter- rorists to kill the American troops that were training them to defend their own country. The practice of recruiting, equipping and training of Afghanistan nationals has been suspended as of Sep- tember 1, 2012 because they have used the same tactics to kill many American soldiers over the last 30 days. Harvey Martin, Quartzsite Was a supporter of Taft These statements are my opinion, but many may agree. The Council made their feelings about Alex Taft perfectly clear. It appears almost 100% of resi- dents want Taft and her chief hench- men gone ASAP! Quartzsite was pre- viously divided about 50-50 in their support (or disdain) for Alex Taft and her chief henchmen, Al Johnson. I was one of Taft's strong supporters, hoping to minimize town problems. Many actions this year by this motley crew showed my support for them was unwise. Putting Chief Gilbert and Ser- September 5, 2012 geant Garcia on administrative leave over a possible minor time sheet ques- tion is beyond irrational! Changing all the locks at PD and Town shows Taft had no intention of letting either to come back, which is asking for a huge law suit. It appears Taft has been trying to get rid of Chief Gilbert last year. Taft ap- pears to be encouraging police employ- ees to bring complaints and problems directly to her and not to the Chief, skipping chain of command. This is an obvious attempt to undermine Chief Gilbert's authority. How could any police department run like that? I've heard that Brannan, Johnson and Yackley are running the Town, not the acting town manager Terry Frausto. I understand Brannan has been doing nasty things, totally on his own with- out orders from Frausto, which is un- ethical and illegal. Brannan was NOT put in charge, Frausto was. If Frausto allows Town employees to communicate with Taft, or do things on their own without her direct approval, or allows town employees or town at- torney to thwart the efforts and desires of the Town Council and go against the will of the people, she has chosen her allegiance is to Taft and Taft's thugs and not to the Town Council and the people of Quartzsite.
