Strong thunderstorms whipped through the valley east of Brenda, where the couple was parked for the sum- mer. Reush was inside their classic trailer when the winds fl ipped it upside down. Shaken, but with no injuries, Reush and Florian returned to Quartzsite to stay with family for the night. Two other RVs on the property were also damaged. They returned to salvage a few items, but their cat remained miss- ing for almost a week. Salvation Army helped the couple with fi nding tempo- rary shelter and their immediate needs. By Shanana Rain Golden-Bear Salvation Army flooded Closed for cleanup By Shanana Rain Golden-Bear - Wednesday, August 22, 2012 a strong thun- derstorm rolled through Quartzsite, bringing high winds and heavy rains. When Salvation Army Director Carol Kelley and volunteers went to open up the next morning, almost an inch of water covered the fl oor of the new build- ing. Kelley said, "We are drying out! We had to cut 2 ft up in all walls to dry out. We will take donations still at the front counter" and plan on being open as in a month or so. She said they can still help folks; just call her at 928-785-7187. Sunday Worship: 10am & 6pm Wednesday Service: 6pm Phone: 928-927-5035 375 E. What started out as a way to get people out on a night in the sum- mer when there is not much else to do, has become one of the most popular gatherings for people who love their vintage, antique or classic vehicles. There are all kinds of vehicles showing up all the time now, from cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles and more. They can be seen lined up along the front and sides of the station, and the guys and gals who have lovingly restored them are more than happy to talk about their "babies" to anyone who asks. To make it easier for people to re- member when the Cruise Ins are go- ing to be held, a schedule has been put together for the next few months. The Cruise Ins will still be held at 7 p.m. during September, and will be going on at 6 p.m. starting in October. The dates are: September 15th and 29th at 7 p.m., October 13th and 27th at 6 p.m. and November 18th and 24th at 6 p.m. Be sure to mark your calendars and come on out and enjoy a great evening just having fun with the family and checking out these great vehicles. The Shell Station offers specials on fountain drinks, hot dogs and ice cream for this event, and there are al- ways door prizes for the lucky ticket holders. Come on out and have a good time and meet your neighbors!!
