They spent the day job shadowing various career fields in the City of Fayetteville. This opportunity for students allowed them to meet and learn from well-trained employees. Seven students from Reid Ross Classical School had the opportunity to shadow City staff: LaMonica Pegrem, Onesti Garofalo, Caitlin Patterson, Faith Pittman, Daisha Osborn, Centrell Williams, Jordyn Baker, William Evans, and Di'Arra Baker-Myers. "The City of Fayetteville is pleased to partner with Cumberland County Schools as a part of the student shadowing program. This program provides an excellent opportunity for students to spend a few hours with a City employee and experience first-hand some of the job opportunities in local government," Assistant City Manager Jay Reinstein said. "We understand that our students are the leaders of tomorrow and these experiences will help prepare them to be productive members of society." The City partners with various colleges and universities and Cumberland County Schools to help educate and train students. Students@Work is a project of the North Carolina Business Committee. Their goal is for North Carolina businesses to help high school students in their community to see the different opportunities in the workplace. Airport Awarded with Training Excellence Award The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) has recognized the Fayetteville Regional Airport with an ANTN Digicast Excellence in Airport Training Award for training completed in 2016. The AAAE is the world's largest professional organization representing men and women who work at public-use commercial and general aviation airports. The award granted to the Fayetteville Regional Airport was based on the number of trainings completed by Airport staff and tenants. ANTN Digicast is a training system that provides over 300 on-demand video trainings on subjects regarding airport run operations, maintenance, security, customer service, human resources and several other subjects. Training completed by the Fayetteville Regional Airport staff and tenants included topics such as airport administration, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF), environment, safety/security, customer service and FAA-required training. "The Fayetteville Regional Airport (FAY) is proud to receive this award from the American Association of Airport Executives for Training Excellence," said Toney Coleman, Fayetteville Regional Airport Deputy Director. "It reflects our continuing effort to train the multi-disciplined Airport stakeholders (fire, police, airlines, general aviation, tower controllers, etc.) in those classes required to ensure that FAY remains operational efficient, safe and secure." The Airport staff and tenants will continue to access ANTN Digicast trainings to retain the Fayetteville Regional Airport's reputation of being one of the safest airports in the region.
