Delta Gamma page 3 Strengthening the Tau Chapter Sisterhood Undergraduates Continue Tradition of Success ast fall was full of fun, excitement, and sisterhood for the women here in Tau Chapter. We started with an incredibly successful fall formal recruitment, and moved through the semester with lots of time spent with friends and sisters and magnificent opportunities. memBerSHiP and PHiLantHroPy exCeed exPeCtationS In November, we welcomed 55 women into our sisterhood at initiation and, as always, it was a beautiful night full of ritual and reminders of why our sisterhood is so special. We exceeded chapter totals for the Panhellenic community so we will not be recruiting this spring semester. For our fall philanthropy, Dunkin' with the DGs, we sold donuts and coffee on the T. Anne Cleary walkway for $5 and raised nearly $2,400 for Service for Sight and the National Federation for the Blind–Cedar Rapids. SiSterS devote time to aCademiCS, CamPuS invoLvement The women of Tau Chapter continue to excel and improve in our academics this semester. We all look forward to working with our new Director of Scholarship Sarah kendeigh '15 to see all the good we can do in our next semester academically. We have an exceptional group of young women who devote their time to their academics and Delta Gamma as well as working around the Iowa City area, giving their time as RAs, volunteering at the University of Iowa hospitals and clinics, and participating in honors organizations on campus to help make our whole Tau community well- rounded. FaLL SemeSter FoCuSed on SiSterHood This past semester we had many activities and opportunities to expand our relationships and friendships within our Chapter. Sophomore and freshman members participated in Shout! during Homecoming week and danced their hearts out on the Pentacrest while representing ΔΓ. In September, we got to spend a weekend with our dads filled with a barbecue, football, and a scholarship brunch where Sydney Sek '13 was awarded the Melissa Ann Brendes Scholarship. We also held our annual fall retreat in October and had the amazing opportunity to host it at Kinnick Stadium in one of the press boxes! It was a wonderful opportunity to spend time with our sisters in a place we all know and love. We ended the semester with a winter semi-formal in Solon and made a positive, long-lasting relationship with the management there. We look forward to holding events there in the future. Last fall was bursting with wonderful experiences and fulfilling times spent with sisters, and we have much to look forward to in the future. Thank you to all the alumnae that have given so much to our Chapter and continue to help us in ways beyond our imagination! There's nothing quite like our sisterhood.
