THE FORGET-ME-NOT DELTA CHAPTER OF ALPHA PHI | SPRING 2017 Our Ivy Vine Connects Us Across Miles and Decades Delta Chapter Launches New Alumnae Relations Program A s I write this, we are assembling the first newsletter with our new alumnae service provider. Our new design of The Forget-Me-Not features an ivy leaf—a symbol connected to both our sisterhood and our ivy-covered alma mater. The ever-growing vine represents our continuing sisterhood, and I want to spotlight three alumnae serving Delta in different ways who are part of the strength of our Delta "ivy league." Lynn Leopold '83 has been named the new alumnae affinity specialist for Delta Chapter. This appointment via Alpha Phi International is a relatively new role and one that Lynn is uniquely suited for—finding lost alumnae, helping sisters stay connected via updated address information, and also introducing the newest graduates to alumnae life and encouraging them to stay connected from graduation onward. If you aren't sure if your information is up to date, or you'd like to refer a sister who isn't getting our mailings or e-mails, please contact Lynn at cornellphi@ yahoo.com. With our alumnae service provider's help, we will be publishing two hardcopy newsletters each year. The digital age has made so much more information available, but difficult to print and mail cost effectively. To that end, we are ramping up our internet presence and seek to strengthen our ivy vine with more sharing online. Jenn Markov '00 is our alumnae social media manager, guiding us in all things internet. As of press time, we are working toward the relaunch of an alumnae website at www.cornellalphaphi.org on April 1. First to publish will be the reunion 2017 page with updated event details and a photo gallery of the new Memorial Garden. Do you have photos to share? Please contact Jenn at markov.jenn@gmail.com. Finally, a sister I speak, e-mail, and text with on a regular basis is Kristina Carrigan '16. Kristi became our house director in July after serving as the chapter facilities director in 2016. She is a licensed EMT working for Bangs Ambulance Service in Ithaca while preparing for graduate study in nursing. Kristi has been an amazing manager of the physical plant, an excellent communicator and creative problem solver, and a caring homemaker to the house residents. She attended the first-ever Alpha Phi-sponsored house director training course last July, and brought home knowledge and best practices that led her to develop new organizational systems with our vendors that will serve her successors for many years to come. She's redefined and set a new standard for this important role. While we wish we could keep her at 411 Thurston forever, we are grateful for the time we have had with her and look forward to her return to alumnae life and our ivy vine. The bonds of our sisterhood formed at 411 Thurston Avenue keep us connected as we have grown up and away from our college days. How wonderful to live in this modern age with more tools to keep us in touch and connected! I hope to see you all soon, either in person or in our constant online reunion. aoe, Susan Guarnaschelli Collins '89 sg225@cornell.edu Delta House Corporation Board President Kathryn V.
