SEPTEMBER 22 1812 Grave Dedication Markers will be placed at grave sites as part of the dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. at Cross Creek Cemetery Number 1. Recognize local soldiers of the War of 1812 such as Gen. Thomas Davis, Sgt. John Huske II and Lt. John Eccles. Following the ceremony, participants are invited to the Fayetteville Area Transporta- tion and Local History Museum for a guided tour of the War of 1812 exhibit. SEPTEMBER 22 Historic Twilight River Tour Take a leisurely, two-hour evening tour of the Cape Fear River and learn about Fayetteville's early im- portance as a colonial port city and trade center. Explore many historic features along the river and enjoy the natural beauty of the river flora and animals. The tour meets at the parking lot at Campbellton Landing and departs at 7 p.m. Cost is $20 and pre-registration is required. Space is very limited. Information: 910.433.1457. SEPTEMBER 28 4th Friday at the Market House & Lafayette On the fourth Friday of each month folks of all ages gather to enjoy free entertainment and exhibits and stroll around taking in downtown's eclectic offerings. This 4th Friday attendees will have an opportunity to learn about the Marquis de Lafayette, a confidant of George Washington and hero of the American Revolution.
