He is buried alongside his fellow veterans at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga. Eric C. Gustafson '95, at the age of 40, entered Chapter Eternal on September 9, 2016, while answering an emergency call as a firefighter for the Meridian Fire Department. He was born in New Orleans to Dr. Harry P. and Jan Gustafson. He pursued his bachelor's degree at Mississippi State and later USM. Eric moved to Meridian, Miss., to be close to his daughter, Jessica Lynn, which led to his enrollment in the Mississippi State Fire Academy. He was proud to be a father and a fireman and he thrived in both roles. He was gifted at math and tutored students in attaining their GED, volunteered for the crisis hotline, had a passion for guitar playing and philosophical writing, and loved the outdoors and camping with his daughter. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Lynn Gustafson; brother, Todd Gustafson and Lori G. Lundgren (Stephen); nieces and nephews; Caroline, Abbey, Philip, Andrew, Charlotte, and Camille Gustafson; and cousins, Patrice, Chris and Robb Melancon, and Jason and Jennifer Melancon. alumni newS Joseph E. Buckley '48 continues to serve as president of Country Air Enterprises at 89 years young, although his children, Joseph L. and Etta, handle the day-to-day company business. Joseph says that he moved from Starkville in 2005 to be closer to his son in Long Beach, Miss. E-mail: jbuck9251@bellsouth.net James "Jim" M. Edwards '60 and wife, Wynette, reside in Chicago, Ill. Jim recently donated a grand piano with 1,500 piano rolls to Laurel Rogers Museum in his hometown of Laurel, Miss. He is planning a trip to St. Louis, Mo., in August, and shares that he and his old friend, Eugene "Gene" Johnson '60, plan to paint the town! William "Bill" A. Manasco '72 lives at Lake Caroline in Madison, Miss., with his wife, Mary. The couple shares a second home in Arkansas, where they visit periodically. In 2015, Bill retired from Trust Mark National Bank as the first vice president. He has two children, Chuck and Lauren, and an eight-year-old granddaughter. He says that his 2016 year was consumed by launching Volkswagen's new Atlas sports utility vehicle. Aside from that, Dave and his family, including wife, Chamar, and daughters, Lilly and Alicia, try to enjoy Chattanooga's great outdoor scenery.
