Oklahoma Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon page 3 V irtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love, the Cardinal Principles of SigEp, have been valuable for Todd Wilson '85 in many seasons of his life, from his time as an undergraduate to the present as an alumnus. During his time at Oklahoma Beta, Todd enjoyed a multitude of aspects of the SigEp brotherhood—camaraderie, intramural sports, initiation, mentoring, developing great relationships with his brothers that last to this day, and so much more. With that in mind, Todd was motivated to give back to Oklahoma Beta by supporting the Red Door Renaissance Campaign. "I made a commitment to honor all the men who were a part of Oklahoma Beta before me and who helped provide me with so many opportunities and a wonderful experience," Todd said. "I wanted to do my part to help the current and future members of the brotherhood." Todd's motivation to give back to Oklahoma Beta also stemmed from his lifelong friendship with his grand big brother, Marc Ganz '83, who helped Todd reconnect with the chapter by getting him in touch with Chip Long '82, who impressed upon him the success of the chapter, the direction of the lives of the active members, and how alumni from near and far have helped their younger brothers to develop and grow as students and as men. Although Todd did not have sons to carry on his SigEp legacy at OU, his daughters helped him stay more closely connected to his brothers Marc and Greg Dial '86 via youth soccer that their children participated in at the same time and, later in life, when his daughters were undergraduates involved in Greek life at the University of Oklahoma. Those connections, coupled with Todd's daughters (all Tri Delt alumnae) being very involved with SigEp during their time as undergraduates at OU, also played an important role in Todd's decision to support the capital campaign. "As I became more familiar with the active chapter, I focused my attention more on SigEp at OU," Todd stated. He shared that he has been extremely blessed with his Oklahoma Beta experience and the brothers he gained along the way—an experience he hopes future generations of SigEp men at the University of Oklahoma will be able to have through alumni support. His SigEp membership at OU also helped Todd find his way, as he had drifted from the way he was raised after his father died when Todd was only a freshman in high school. Scott Weed '86 and Greg Dial '86 were particularly helpful through their actions in grounding Todd in his Christian ways. "They helped me realize how I needed to be," Todd said. Todd has also enjoyed staying close with his little brother, Mike McCabe '86, though the years and was able to reconnect with little brother Wade Huckabay '87 at a recent all-class reunion. Todd and his wife, Julia, who is also a Tri Delt alumna, have three daughters: Haley, Hannah, and Hope—all are graduates of the University of Oklahoma. They are all avid fans of OU sports and enjoy going to as many OU games together as possible. Todd has made it to almost every home game and several Texas and away games since he graduated in 1985. He also enjoys golfing, fly fishing, and snow skiing. Todd and Julia live in Arcadia, Oklahoma. The chapter, however, will continue to be managed by the Alumni Advisory Council for the coming academic year. The only university sanction placed on the chapter for 2016-17 is that no alcohol is allowed at any SigEp social function with zero tolerance to this sanction. The alumni board strongly and unconditionally supports this sanction. Any alcohol violation will go on the student's permanent record—not the chapter's. Despite the events that have led to this point, the campaign board and alumni leadership believes that the current members of Oklahoma Beta Chapter have as much character, integrity, intellect as we did at any time in our proud history. That is evidenced by the chapter's achievements you'll read on page 4. The Red Door Renaissance Campaign has had great success with support from dedicated alumni and friends. To date, we have raised more than $1.3 million from 82 donors. But it is important, now more than ever before, that we meet our $2.5 million goal and show that Oklahoma Beta alumni value our proud history and our chapter's ability to grow from this adversity. Will you support us in this effort? Feel free to send questions, comments, or better yet, fill out the enclosed information update and let us know how you can help through mentoring or other alumni leadership opportunities. We want your ideas and need your support.
