3 THE ORACLE AN EXCITING TIME FOR ALPHA-OMICRON Brothers Look Forward to 100-Year Celebration T his has been a very exciting school year for us here at Indiana University. We received the Phoenix Award over the summer at the fraternity's General Assembly, and we look forward to celebrating our 100-year anniversary in April. Between these two achievements, our undergraduate brothers continue to be leaders on campus in academics, philanthropy, and community involvement. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE Between the fall and spring semesters, our overall GPA increased by .03 points. We hold the ninth-highest GPA among the 30 fraternities on campus, which we hope to use to our advantage during recruitment. We plan to continually climb the ranks to break into the top five soon. High Sigma Anand Mehtta '18 believes that as the size of our brotherhood grows, so will our academic prowess. With more brothers, everyone should be able to find at least one brother to help them out in a class in which they might be struggling. PHILANTHROPIC ENDEAVORS Alpha-Omicron continues to support our local food bank, Hoosier Hills Food Bank, by volunteering and bringing them food whenever they are short on resources. This semester, we hope to initiate a fundraiser to raise money for support dogs for veterans. CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT During spring recruitment, we initiated 32 high-quality gentlemen whom we believe exemplify our seven Core Values. Our brothers continue to be involved in activities outside of the fraternity. Ninety-five percent of our active brotherhood is involved in at least one other organization on campus, with some brothers holding leadership roles in these organizations. We are also proud to announce our brother Matt McPartlin '18 was recently elected as the head of dancer relations, an executive position for the Indiana University Dance Marathon, which is the second-largest philanthropic event nationwide. GRATEFUL FOR ALPHA-OMICRON ALUMNI SUPPORT Perhaps the most exciting thing that will be happening to the chapter this year is our 100-year anniversary celebration on the weekend of April 1. Alpha-Omicron could not have survived for 100 years if it weren't for our supportive and dedicated alumni who not only laid the groundwork for our success, but who also continue to support us as we grow as a chapter. We encourage everyone to join us in Bloomington that weekend and celebrate with us. If you are unable to attend the event, please feel free to stop by the chapter house whenever you are in the area—we would love to welcome you back home. All proceeds went to the American Brain Cancer Association. (3) AO brothers participate in IUDM 2016 last November. (4) Alpha-Omicron danced for Owen at IUDM 2016. Owen celebrates after finishing his first half marathon. We are so proud of everything that he has accomplished! 1 2 3 4 Welcome, Spring ASSociAteS Andrew Baldini '20 / Carmel, Ind.
