AZ Peace Trail needs your input The Quartzsite Museum is operated by volunteers who are members of the Quartzsite Historical Society and by Winter Docents who are paid a small stipend. Funds for the Museum come from grants from the Town of Quartzsite, and the Arizona Histori- cal Society; donations by individuals and local organizations; fundraising including bake sales, book and sou- venir sales at the Museum, Big Tent and various events; can and bottle recycling; fi eld trip fees; and His- torical Society memberships. We are always looking for ways to increase our income to cover our expenses and ideas are welcome. We'd like to express our appre- ciation to Kenny King for his hos- pitality at the Big Tent, to the many volunteers who staffed our booth every day, and to the folks who came by and chatted with us. It is a labor-intensive event, but our volunteers tell us they have a good time informing folks about the Mu- seum, answering questions about the town and encouraging an inter- est in history. At the tent we talked to quite a few people who stay in Quartzsite for an extended time. We are reaching Museum seeks members out to encourage them to become members of our Historical Society. Snowbirds, winter visitors and town residents are all welcome. Membership is only $10 per per- son a year, which helps support the museum and is tax deductible. Members are invited to attend and vote at our meetings (monthly Oc- tober to April) where the activities of the Museum are discussed and receive e-mail notifi cation of our winter fi eld trips. Field trips are planned by our local residents and usually feature special tours and in- side stories on historical sites. This year the fi eld trips have in- cluded the Peoria Historical Soci- ety Museum, the Adobe Mountain Railroad Museum, Robson's Ranch, Cibola National Wildlife Refuge and a member's only tour of Desert Gar- dens Cars. Of course, the members are encouraged to volunteer at the museum if they are interested and are invited to provide goodies for the bake sale. Membership is avail- able by stopping by the Museum. Please consider joining us. We are a non-profi t historical so- ciety. Visiting the Museum is free, although donations are always wel- come. Located at 161 Main Street (parking in rear), the Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday 10 to 4 and guided tours are available dur- ing those hours. E-mail QHS@TDS. net. Phone: (928)927-5229. We continue to raise funds by recy- cling plastic and aluminum, which can be dropped off any time at the front gate collection can. New volunteers are welcome! We are especially seek- ing someone with web site skills who is willing to volunteer to bring our currently inaccessible website back.
