From record setting auction sales to dazzling pieces adorning celebrities on the Red Carpet, natural color diamonds dominated the news and—indicators sug- gest—will continue to do so throughout 2017. If you haven't yet introduced your clients to natural color diamond jewelry, you might want to hear what NCDIA member Eddie Le Vian has to say about his experience: "Le Vian has always believed that the nature of natural color diamonds—where each dia- mond is a unique combination of hue, tone and sat- uration—is ideal in the diamond kingdom to signify the individual beauty of every woman who fi nds her- self in a world of mass production." Members of the Natural Color Diamond Associa- tion, who specialize in these rare stones, offer other insights into the market, including suggestions for how retailers might make 2017 a natural color dia- mond year. NCDIA president, Alan Bronstein, of Aurora Gems, has this message for industry professionals: "2017 could be a challenging year for natural diamonds against all substitutes, but we must work to win the hearts and minds of consumers to embrace 'natural' as the best choice for their jewels." Another member of NCDIA is Jose Batista of Rio Gem Corp., based in New York City, who is one of two NCDIA vice presidents. He sees bold colors used by jewelry designers as a great way to attract consumer interest. "The fancy color diamond mar- ket has been steady and I feel this is very positive for retailers, as it gives them the opportunity to create personalized jewelry for their clients."
