Town Clean up days planned Feb. 10-13 By Joanne Winer Local bookstore owner and mu- sician will be doing 2 more shows at the Q.I.A. this coming February 7. They will be at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The shows will include his group of fellow musicians that he calls the "All Star Sweet Stomp Orches- tra", and will include his boyhood friend and fantastic blues har- monica player Will "Ol' Willy Boy" Pirone, who comes here for these special shows all the way from Maine. They will be doing a lot of the songs that they played from back in the 70s. and plan a special duet of some of them. Also playing with Paul and Will is Steve Hohstadt, guiltar player and songwriter from Quartzsite who has been playing with Paul for the past two years and has been re- cording and putting together 2 new CDs from past concerts at the Senior Center and the Q.I.A. These CDs and the others from the past shows (DVD) and his earlier CD are also going to be available at the shows. Buddy Apfel will also be there with his tuba and chest trombone, and Ray Zimpher will also play along on some of the songs on his trumpet. Ralph Martin, who has played one string wash tub bass for over 30 years in Quartzsite and is known for his gospel jams and playing with Paul for several years, recently passed away, so Paul is planning a special tribute to him at the concerts. Tickets for both shows at the Q.I.A. are $10. each and are available at the Q.I.A. offi ce and also at the Reader's Oasis Bookstore. Come on out and enjoy a great time and hear some great blues, boogie/woogie, country and you may even here some jazz or gospel. There will be lots of laughs and lots of great music! Paul Winer plans 2 shows at QIA • Birth • Obituary • Anniversary Place it FREE in the: Desert Messenger! 928-916-4235 Got something to share?
