Provided by Elmer London, Quartzsite and Desert Messenger You walk in a room and stare at a wall. You know you came for something but can't think of it at all. Why is it so, your memory fails, when you walk through a door? Then, you walk back out and your memory will restore. It's really a puzzle. Parker, AZ- The Urgent Care service at La Paz Regional Hospital is to be closed tem- porarily due to a provider shortage, according to a press release Monday. "We understand this is an incon- venience during fl u season and are working hard to ensure this transition is as quick as possible," the statement said. "This does not affect the Emergency Room, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We appreciate your patience and support and will notify the public as soon as the Urgent Care services return. For illnesses that are normally treated by Urgent Care services, the following clin- ics will work hard to accommodate walk-in visits, or call to book an appointment: La Paz Healthcare: Parker Clinic – (928) 669-5550 La Paz Medical Services in Quartzsite – (928) 927-8747 Parker Medical Center – (928) 669-2225 Parker Family Practice – (928) 699-9700 Bouse Medical Clinic – (928) 851-2177 Tri-Valley Medical Center in Salome – (928) 859-3460" Urgent care closure "A little Consideration, a little Thought for Others, makes all the difference." -Winnie the Pooh As I begin writing this morning, the bright red and orange sunrise calls me to take a break and just enjoy the beauty we have surrounding us. Are we so blessed or what? So many days, we forget the beauty around us, get caught up in the news of the world. Okay, so I'm addicted to news, as I'm sure many of us are. But how do we deal with information overload? How do we know what is true and factual or the fake news? Over the past few months, I've been acutely attuned to the events happening near Cannonball, ND, as many of my relatives and elders are involved with protecting the water. Colorado River Indian Tribes sent a small delegation of veterans to join thousands of veterans converging on Standing Rock lands. I'm feel so blessed to hear their personal sto- ries of healing occuring there. Quartzsite has its own gathering of elders each year; they're known as "snowbirds". Just listen to their words of wisdom, hear the hope for the future, and their love of life. Quartzsite is known for many things; swap meets, beautiful winter weath- er, "the Gathering Place", the "put it on your bucket list", friendly people, vendors, social connections, music jams, entertainment, more RV parks per capita than anywhere, thousands of acres of Sonoran Desert camping, incredible ATV trail rides, tons of rocks for sale or rockhounding, rich history of colorful characters, gold mining, creativity of RVers, and lots of Snowbirds! The next time you're visiting with an "elder", listen for how they teach, through sharing of stories. As Winnie the Pooh suggests we can give a little consideration, a little thought for others and that makes all the difference. Enjoy your day!
