19 http://www.deforestaction.org DeforestACTION is a collaborative and interactive project that connected students globally to investigate the causes and effects of deforestation on local and global levels. Over the course of 8 weeks, TakingITGlobal created, moderated and facilitated online learning activities and project planning webinars, where students and teachers took a collaborative approach to global problem solving. Students formed local and global action groups and designed plans to address deforestation in their local communities. Students met experts in the field through video conferencing, such as orangutan zookeepers, environmentalists in Borneo and local governmental agencies in the forestry industry. These real time authentic learning opportunities provided the students the opportunity to engage with stakeholders in a global issue and engage in conversations in a multi-perspective view. The culminating celebration of the project included classes throughout Canada and the United States. In total, twelve classes from grades 1-9 participated in the DeforesACTION project. # Decarbonize http://decarbonize.tigweb.org/ In November, over 200 high school student leaders, representing fourteen nations from six continents, with the Centre for Global Education and TakingITGlobal, came together in a Global Virtual Town Hall to discuss the youth's vision for the future of their planet. The culmination of over two months of online teamwork, 25,000 hours of student collaboration and the dedication of over 10,000 youth led to the creation of a White Paper that represents their voices and the global conversation on climate change. The White Paper was presented at the Conference of Youth (COY11) in Paris by both student representatives and TakingITGlobal staff. # d e c a r b o n i z e
