"I was exposed to the Sigma Chi values and traditions early on by my older brother, Steve Hamilton '94, so I was sold on Sigma Chi from the start," says Curt Hamilton '96. "I had seen what Sigma Chi meant to Steve and his fraternity brothers, and this inspired me to become part of this brotherhood." Jim Hamilton '02 was encouraged to join Beta Rho not only from his two older brothers, but from his older sister, who was a Sigma Chi sweetheart at MSU. "I admired how dedicated the members were to making a difference in the fraternity, on campus, and in the community, especially through the Children's Miracle Network. Many Sigs volunteered with Eagle Mount, an organization dedicated to providing quality recreational opportunities for people with disabilities. My younger sister is handicapped, so this really hit home for me," said Jim. Sigma Chi has made a lifelong impact on Steve and he has had the honor of passing down the Beta Rho legacy to both Jim and Curt. "It's amazing to be able to share a unique bond beyond the biological connection. Sigma Chi helped us become better men, students, and leaders than we would've been able to accomplish on our own. Although it seems fraternities have been under more scrutiny over the last several years, Sigma Chi has meaningful traditions and values that should be able to rise above the scrutiny. It is my hope that the chapter's traditions and values will always remain the same," Steve says. Beta Rho provided Steve, Curt, and Jim with some of their most cherished memories and friendships, and for this reason they make it a priority to stay connected to ensure their legacy will live on for decades to come. "From the day you pledge, it is ingrained in you that Sigma Chi is for life. It is imperative that alumni be present for our active members to see that this is true. Beta Rho needs your support to continue down the positive path it's on and maintain the elite membership our chapter takes great pride in," Curt says. Jim also adds, "Sigma Chi truly made me feel like I was part of something bigger than myself, and it is my hope that future generations will be afforded the same rewarding opportunities, friendships, and experiences I had as an undergraduate." After graduating from MSU, Curt went on to attend graduate school at Texas A&M, where he frequently visited the Sigma Chi house. When he is not hard at work, you'll likely find Curt spending time with his wife, Molly, and two children, Tyke (8) and Nola (6), skiing, coaching his children's baseball, soccer, and basketball teams, hiking, rafting, playing sports, volunteering for the Watch D.O.G.S. program at his children's school, or attending Seahawks games. Curt lives in Seattle, Washington. E-mail: curtislhamilton@hotmail.com Jim moved to New York City to pursue a job and enjoys exploring all that the city has to offer. In his spare time, he takes pleasure in anything sports-related, including football, basketball, and attending sporting events, hiking, and going to Broadway shows and operas. "I've found that no matter where life takes you, your fraternity brothers remain a constant, and there are brothers across the nation who share that common bond and will provide support and friendship no matter what. These men want to see you succeed, become a better person, and make a difference. I wouldn't be where I am today without them." E-mail: jrulebooks@aol.com Steve does litigation work with the law firm Hall & Evans LLC in Denver, Colorado, which involves product liability work with several different manufacturers. "One of my proudest achievements is being part of a successful law firm and working with hard-working, honorable people," Steve says. Aside from his professional career, Steve likes skiing, biking, attending Broncos and Nuggets games as a season ticket holder, exercising, hanging out with friends, and spending time with his family. Steve and his wife, Kate, have three sons: Max (6), Charlie (4), and Gus (2). E-mail: shami10@hotmail.com T he Montana State University Bobcats Athletics Hall of Fame added Sigs Bruce Amsden '64 and Duane Denton '65 to its ranks on January 29.
