Communicate. Make sure your
guy knows what the expectation
is for the party, and plan early. If it is a
cocktail party let him know that he needs
to dress up. If it's dinner out at a sports
bar, or his company party, ask him what
he would like to see you wear.

Sweater dressing. A great
sweater is a great alternative to a
shirt and tie, and is an alternative to a
jacket and tie. For more casual events
that still require dressing up, a sweater
and slacks will make him feel nicely put
together without being overly stuffy.
