"
Never be afraid of a
statement jacket on a
man; it makes people
know he cares about
how he looks."
"
Navy is a great
alternative to
black in a tux."
Noah Jacobson shows us the dressier side of jeans (left), with this purple plaid Robert Graham sport coat, dark wash jeans and navy Fratelli Rossetti
driving flats. In his second outfit, Noah is rocking a very different twist on the boring tuxedo with this navy blue Canali pinstriped tux accented with
blue silk scarf and pocket square. David and Noah's outfits are courtesy of Gene Hiller Menswear, Sausalito, genehiller.com.

Let him wear jeans.
Jeans can be dressed up given
the right context. They are just dark
wash jeans that he wears out for
social events vs. his jeans that he
wears for everything else. Plus, if you
let him wear jeans you are more likely
to get him into a tie and a jacket.

When it is time to suit up, let
him pick his clothes.
He should
be comfortable, so take him to a reputable
clothier where they will help find his personal
style and the right fit. Tailoring is a must for
men's formal wear, and a step that you don't
want to skip.

Special tip from our NBW staff:
Add sparkling wine.
Bubbles add
effervescence to the fun of getting ready
together.
