House Corporation of Delta Gamma 308 e. Burlington st. PMB #133 Iowa City, IA 52240 Address Service Requested Delta Gamma at the University of Iowa Ties to Tau Delta Gamma at the University of Iowa Delta Gamma as a tool to meet people in each of them. Suzanne was involved with the Alpha Zeta Chapter at Lawrence University for years and Kris was able to connect with various chapters across the U.S. while she was interviewing for residencies. At each Chapter she visited, Kris was welcomed by the undergraduates and was able to stay at each of the Chapter houses while she was traveling for her interviews. Even so, Tau Chapter holds a special place in each of their hearts. "Attending the Tau Chapter 125-year anniversary in 2011 really showed me the power of our sisterhood," Charlene said. "I saw so many of my sisters that I hadn't seen in more than 20 years, and yet it was as if we hadn't been gone at all. The reconnection was instant." When Suzanne initially came to college, she had a poor impression of Greek life and did not join Delta Gamma until her sophomore year. After meeting many of the women through her roommate, paula piasecki Johnson strasky '77, Suzanne was impressed and decided to give the sorority a chance. During her undergraduate years, she learned how critical community living/ working is in the real world, and believes her time in Tau Chapter helped prepare her for life after college. "The women I met in DG were very supportive and inspirational to me," she said. "'Do Good' is the motto of our sisterhood and I try to think of this each day." Unlike Suzanne, Charlene had an immediate connection with Delta Gamma when she went through recruitment. She remembers Mom Hall's candy bowl and the continuous buzzing for phone calls, but her favorite memory was always having friends around for late-night talks, clothes, fashion advice, and moral support. During her undergraduate years, she had immense respect and admiration for the upperclassmen. She was humbled by their achievements and accomplishments, and looked up to the women as role models. Charlene has had a chance to see the Chapter house renovations last summer and thought the renovations were incredible. "The Chapter house is beautiful. It is fresh and current, and a house we can all be proud of," she said. As for Kris, her initial impression of Delta Gamma when she went through recruitment was how homey the Chapter felt. Attending a large university, she found it important to find a place that she could belong and feel at home in. Kris is an obstetrician-gynecologist out of Community Health Hospital in Indianapolis. She and her husband, David H. Moore, M.D., have two children, Harry and Aaron. In her free time, Kris attends ballet classes all over the Indianapolis area. Kris lives in Indianapolis, Ind., and can be reached at mbeckwith2@ecommunity.com. Suzanne retired in May as a pediatric and adolescent gynecologist. She married Beta Theta Pi alumnus Jack Swanson and has three children. In her free time, she enjoys knitting, sewing, golfing, and spending time at her cabin in Oconto, Wis. Suzanne and Jack live in Appleton, Wis. Suzanne can be reached at scs003@aol.com. Charlene and Gene have three children, Alex, Coleman, and Paige. She plays tennis year round and enjoys traveling to California to see her children. Charlene lives in Dallas, Texas, and can be reached at charbreen@aol.com.
