Chapter eternal James B. Conklin '51 entered Chapter Eternal peacefully in his sleep on December 5, 2015. He was a gifted trumpet player and played in a jazz band circuit in Chicago clubs. In 1943, James joined the Army to support his family after his father's death. After the war, he graduated from college and returned home to Chicago, where he accepted a job with Doty & Doty Accounting Firm auditing large Chicago firms. James married Joanne Urban on April 9, 1960, and they settled in Park Ridge, Ill., in 1963, where they raised their family. After Doty & Doty Accounting, he worked for F&F Laboratories, where he worked his way up to vice president of finance/ comptroller. James retired in 1988 to Sturgeon Bay, Wis., and spent winters in Marco Island, Fla. He loved his family and friends dearly and enjoyed celebrating the goodness of life with them. James also loved golfing and boating. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces, a nephew, and great-nieces and great- nephews. Charles "Chuck" E. Skillman '53 entered Chapter Eternal on October 16, 2015. He is survived by his two sons and two grandchildren, as well as a host of extended family and friends. William J. Grogan '58 entered Chapter Eternal on February 17, 2015. He was engaged in farming for 30 years and later owned JJ's Package Store in Fairfield, Ill. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, who is a 1959 graduate from Bradly University; their two children, Bill, who graduated from Bradley in 1984, and Patricia; and three grandchildren.
