Join an Action Team Event "Welcome Aboard" Organizers for the Annual Soup & Chowder Festival are planning a meeting at Silly Al's on Monday September 26th at 1 pm. Enjoy some tasty treats at Silly Al's and help get things organized for the Third annual Soup and Chowder Festival, combined with Operation Hero Comfort to be held on December 10th at the QIA. All community residents are invited to join us beginning Monday Sep- tember 12 at the Quartzsite Community Center. My La Paz, Inc. is spon- soring FREE classes for any resident, young or old, to prepare and take their amateur radio license exam. Having an amateur radio license allows anyone to have communications even when other systems are not within range or even when all other systems fail. It's also a great way to meet new friends and serve your community. There is no cost to attend the class and license exams are also totally FREE. Military veterans and also children under the age of 18 will receive study books at no charge. Free study materials are available online but if other adults would like a copy of the book they will be offered for $10 each. There will be six classes, running each Monday and Wednesday from 5:30pm - 7:00pm beginning on Sep 12th through Sep 28th followed by an FCC license exam on Saturday, October 1st. In addition to sponsoring the classes My La Paz, Inc. will be providing FREE dual-band radios to all military veterans and youth who pass their FCC License exam. Youth who pass will also be given free membership in the AZARA Youth Radio Club. If you have questions, please call Dave at 602-616-8338 or email Dave@MyLaPaz.org.
