THE TIGER SIG Page 6 Summer 2016 UNDERGRADUATES RAISE $12,000 THROUGH DERBY DAYS Brothers Aim to receive the Peterson AwArd T he spring of 2016 semester saw success on many different fronts. The Chapter placed ninth of 37 in grades, surpassing the university all-male average for our second semester in a row. The annual War on Rosemary hockey game between Xi Xi Chapter and Beta Theta Pi raised $26,000 for Camp Kessem and the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. Unfortunately, we lost the game, but we are proud of our success. Xi Xi Chapter had the largest Derby Days in years! All 15 sororities entered teams in every event. We would like to give a huge thank-you to a cohesive group effort led by Nathan Willet '18. We raised $12,000, which was split between Huntsman Cancer Institute and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Missouri. This summer, the entire executive council will be attending Balfour Leadership Training Workshop in Bowling Green, Ohio, along with thousands of Sigma Chis from across the U.S. and Canada. While at Balfour, we hope to receive the Peterson Award, which we have worked hard for in the past year. Next semester will prove to be just as exciting as the spring semester. We plan to initiate seven spring pledges from four different cities. We will pair with the women of Alpha Chi Omega for Homecoming and have elected Sam Pottenger '19 and Jack Sellenriek '19 as our head Homecoming liaisons. We are proud of our success so far in 2016. The Chapter is excited for the fall and to continue exceeding our goals.
