t was a beautiful weekend in April for our annual spring events. More
than 150 alumni arrived on Saturday, April 23, for a morning golf
outing at Karsten Creek in Stillwater. Friends showed off their skills and a
wonderful time was had by all those involved.
The afternoon included a barbecue hosted by our undergraduate
members and a tour of the construction site where our new home
is quickly being built. Those in attendance were excited to see the
progress that has been made and there was a special spark in the
air as we all dreamed of what the future will hold for our beloved
Gamma Chi.
By the evening, we were ready for more, and brothers and guests arrived
at the Conoco Phillips Alumni Center for a cocktail hour and dinner
celebrating our award winner and inductees into the Pi Kappa Alpha Hall
of Fame.
Charlie Barnes, from Florida State, was our keynote speaker for the
evening. He played a pivotal role in revitalizing the Gamma Chi Chapter in
the 1960s and has been a dedicated Pi Kappa Alpha, serving at the national
level in numerous positions.
We recognized Rich Young '80 as the Gamma Chi Volunteer of the Year
and inducted Millard "Bucky" Harp '74 and Cyrus Mavalvala '70 into
the Hall of Fame. These men are pillars of our fraternity and show us what
it truly means to be a Pike.
Thank you to each brother who attended these events, making 2016 another
successful year for our spring banquet. Please make plans to be with us in
2017 as we celebrate an even larger milestone with our new chapter house!
