Gamma Xi ANCHOR Gamma Xi Chapter of Delta Gamma Gamma Xi House Corporation P.O. Box 6036 Lubbock, TX 79493-6036 L ast fall, the Gamma Xi Chapter of Delta Gamma at Texas Tech University continued to excel and hold many new and exciting events. The women of Gamma Xi waited patiently as we held each chapter meeting in FarmHouse Fraternity's lodge. We initiated 83 new members in the process, and managed to raise more than $12,000 through Anchor Splash and Desserts with DG. After a long semester of working hard for Service for Sight, enjoying a wonderful Dad's Weekend, and being involved on campus, we were finally rewarded with a new lodge! Our last two fall chapter meetings were held in our special new home, which everyone is extremely thankful for. Gamma Xi elected new officers and directors in November, and the spring 2016 semester got off to a great start. With a new lodge and 19 members over quota, Gamma Xi did not need to take any new members this spring. However, we did welcome home a transfer from the Beta Psi Chapter at the University of Alabama, Rachael Linter '15, who is a great addition to our chapter. Delta Gamma excelled in academics last fall. In mid-February, DG was named number six out of all 12 Panhellenic sororities on campus. Our chapter's overall GPA was higher than the National Panhellenic Council GPA, which has been a goal of ours for quite a while. However, Director of Scholarship Sarah Rossi '15 is motivated and ready to do whatever it takes to get in the top five for grades. We held Mom's Weekend February 26-28, in which members and their moms enjoyed coffee and brunch at the lodge and massages and mug painting in the afternoon. We also had a DG country-themed date party on March 4, in which members two-stepped and enjoyed s'mores by the campfire. We participated in Relay for Life this semester, raising money for the American Cancer Society. Our members participated in this event with Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, with whom we are attending Homecoming in the fall. Gamma Xi held a ribbon cutting ceremony for our brand new lodge on April 2, an event so memorable for all of the women of Gamma Xi. We had many alumnae attend and celebrate as we officially accepted the lodge and the anchor plaque key. This was such a special time for collegiate members to interact with alumnae and get to know what Gamma Xi was like during their time as undergraduates. We also had many supporters from Henthorn Commercial Construction, Happy State Bank, and other Panhellenic sororities attend. Countless hours and hard work have been put into creating this gorgeous facility, and the women of Gamma Xi are absolutely ecstatic to be in our new home. Gamma Xi is doing great things and we look forward to all we have ahead of us. We are thankful for the present and everything we have, and we are hopeful for the future.
