early 140 years ago, our fraternity united at Auburn in the
pursuit of brotherhood, working together to promote a
standard of excellence and fulfillment that can only be achieved by
those who embody the principles and ideals of a true gentleman.
Since Alabama Alpha Mu was founded on June 15, 1878, our
exceptional brotherhood has grown in strength every year and
established itself as the leader not only at Auburn University
but with Sigma Alpha Epsilon nationally. SAE has earned and
maintained its strong reputation through excellence in academics,
leadership, and athletics and remains the oldest fraternity in
existence at Auburn.
With nearly 2,000 initiated brothers since our founding,
Alabama Alpha Mu of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity has
been an important part of the Auburn community. As alumni,
we can trace many of our best memories to Auburn and to our
fraternity experience. Through SAE we learned the importance of
integrity, intellect, and high moral character. Beyond pride in our
achievements, as young men we acquired valuable assets, which
included leadership, organizational, and social skills—only the
beginning of a long list of traits gained through our fraternity that
have made us the men we are today.
While much has changed since 1878 in the world, with Sigma
Alpha Epsilon, and on Auburn University's campus, Alabama
Alpha Mu has held strong traditions and its members have truly
become "True Gentlemen" together.
It is with these concepts that we embark on a new era for 550 West
Magnolia Avenue – Founded in Tradition, Continuing the Legacy.
