P ike alumni are always excited to host career advisory sessions for Pike undergraduates. In 2015, four such alumni-led sessions were held on topics ranging from law to energy to financial advising to digital marketing/big data. A big thanks to CBRE's Cody Armbrister '97, Trammell Crow's Jeremy Garner '94 and Zieben Group's Lee Zieben '95, who kicked off the first 2016 session on the topic of careers in the real estate industry with a "lunch and learn" in Houston on January 8. Six Pike undergraduates gave up part of their holiday break to take part in the session. Freshman Mitchell Benson '15 remarked, "I really enjoyed the session, meeting some alumni and understanding career options available post-graduation." Offering real estate career insights were (standing) Jeremy Garner '94, Cody Armbrister '97 and Alumni Advisory Board Member Lee Zieben '95. Honored on December 7 were: Sean Dunn '13 (marketing), Kevin Elwood '12 (biology/pre-med), Dylan Gust '11 (chemical engineering), Nick Kollasch '12 (radio-TV-film), Matt Lillard '11 (economics), Jon Lutz '13 (actuarial science) and Troy Syzmanski '11 (computer science). The Pike Alumni Fund provided Pike fleece blankets as graduation gifts to these seniors. Best wishes to these new Texas-Exes and Pike alumni! Houston Pike Alumni Host Real Estate Career Advisory Session for Undergraduates AUSTIN ALUMNI HOST SENIOR SEND-OFF LUNCH FOR DECEMBER 2015 GRADUATES December Pike graduates Nick Kollasch '12, Dylan Gust '11, Matt Lillard '11 and Troy Szymanski '11 were congratulated at a senior send-off lunch. PIKES SELECTED FOR TEXAS COWBOYS AND SILVER SPURS C ongratulations to Pike Treasurer Lucas Anderson '14, a sophomore from Charlotte, North Carolina, for his selection as Newman in the Texas Cowboys. The Cowboys are U.T.'s oldest honorary organization with rich traditions of service to the university. Pike now has five Texas Cowboys. Silver Spurs tapped two Pikes into its ranks this spring. Congratulations to new Rowels, Houston-area sophomores Kris Kubin '14 of Cypress and Brad Swanson '14 of Katy. Pike has 10 Silver Spurs. The Spurs look forward to revealing the new BEVO XV during the 2016 football season. Pike Rush Team Announced for Summer 2016 B uilding on last year's successful rush efforts, a seasoned team of city rush captains and state rush chairs has been announced. Leading the overall effort for 2016 as rush chairman is senior Colby Lewis '13 of Aledo. Rush is the lifeblood of the fraternity and Pike alumni and families are encouraged to recommend prospective members to the rush team. The rush team will be working throughout the summer in Austin, DFW and Houston to rush students for a fall 2016 pledge class. The rush team can be reached at rush@texaspikes.com.
