24 www.DesertMessenger.com March 16, 2016 RECYCLE THIS NEWSPAPER thank you! The La Paz County Assessor's office would like to notify the public that the 2017 Notices of Property Value were mailed out on Friday, February 5, 2016. This is the time you may file an appeal if you disagree with your Full Cash Value or Classification. If you do not receive your Notice of Property Value, please call our office at (928) 669-6165. We would also like to re- mindyou that you can now receive your Notice of Property Value via e-mail. To learn how to register for e-notifica- tion, contact us. Now that Proposition 117 came into effect, remember your Limited Cash Value can only go up five percent (5%) a year if there were no changes to your property. This is the value your tax rates are derived from. With the changes in today's market there are areas that have in- creased, some that have decreased, and some with very little change. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact our office. Sharon SchulerLa Paz County Assessor 2017 Notice of Property Value Good Guys/Gals vs Bad Guys/Gals season ending celebration tournament By Linda Taylor The first day of our GG/BG tourney had several upsets as Dwayne Farmer & Bill Buchan came out of retirement to defeat Mike Stegeman & Robert Barnard. Debi Jensen and Linda Taylor came from behind to win a close match over Dean Harrington and Dino Linden. Three teams shot the day's low score of 39-Mike Stegeman and Robert Barnard were on the winning end playing as substitutes in a 2nd match, Pete Lilly and Joe McWilliams, Jerry Taylor and Garn Dye. Four matches were won by 2 strokes or less. Eighteen teams competed over two courses in two of the hottest days of the year to date. Day #1 ended with the Bad Guys leading 7-2 over the Good Guys on the course at Rainbow Acres. The second day of the tournament was played on the Quartzsite Town Course #1. The scores were outstanding for many of the teams. The low score of the day belongs to the teams of Chester Henry & Robert Dickson and Garn Dye & Jerry Taylor who fired 35's. In this match, Robert Dickson had the "shot of the day" as he laid his ball right next to the pin on the final hole to halve the point. Don Clark and Bud Coenen shot 36 and eeked out a victory over Jim LaCroix and Jim Laeng's total of 39. Bud Key and Gary McGowan also shot a score of 36 to win their match. The teams of Bill Toner & Tom Chopski and Mac McLean & Bob Cutler beat their opponents by shooting 38's. The 2nd day concluded in a draw with the Good Guys and the Bad Guys each earning 4 1/2 points. So, for the 4th year running, the Bad Guys took the honors 11 1/2 points to 6 1/2. Players and wives enjoyed a scrumptuous BBQ at Bill and Dorothy Toner's home. Prizes were awarded and stories were shared by numerous speakers. This wraps up our season for Rainbow Acres but Quartzsite tourneys will continue at 9:00 on Saturdays for those interested. New participants are always welcome in our scrambles and we hope to see more of you on the links next season! In addition to providing access to the area's most popular recreation areas, the plan also ensures min- ers retain access to their mining claims. "We listened to our stakehold- ers and understand they want ad- equate, well-maintained access to public lands for recreation as well as for permitted mining and other commercial purposes," said John MacDonald, Yuma Field Manager. "We've worked hard to develop a plan that provides that access while also ensuring the health and viabili- ty of the public lands for current and future generations of Americans."
