He serves as community service chairman for Zeta Sigma, is a member of Student Senate and the Pre-Veterinary Society, an officer in the Biomedical Sciences organization, and is a Fish Camp counselor. Even with all of that going on, Mike says he wants to run for another position within the chapter next year. "I'd like to take the connections with different members and use the skills I've learned to promote the chapter as a whole," Mike says. "Being the community service chairman, I've learned that it's a lot about being the middleman—talking to an organization, communicating to the chapter, making sure that everyone is on the same page. I am being a leader." Mike had friends going through recruitment freshman year, and with the encouragement of Shawn Careveo '17, Zeta Sigma turned out to be a great fit. Mike got along great with the members and knew that this was the place he was supposed to be. Without the support of his brothers, Mike wouldn't have run for Student Government. "Other than my friends in my pledge class, Jack Chadderon '15 encouraged me to run for Student Senate," he says. "He really walked me through it, and I saw the importance of the organization and giving Delt a voice." It's important to stay involved inside and outside of the chapter, Mike says. "In college and in general, you have to find your niche and the group of people that you connect with. You get a lot more out of the classroom; having those experiences are key." After graduation, Mike will apply to veterinary school. He enjoys going to Aggie football games with brothers and staying active. E-mail Mike at mrmikerauch@gmail.com.
