The cactus had been vandalized by folks for firewood when about the turn of the millennium it was rescued by local resident Dennis Hegeman, and dried out until it was prime for preservation at the local museum. The Museum Property committee, led by Director Ronald Zuege is presently studying methods to display and preserve the saguaro bones for visitors. Museum acquires famous 47 arm saguaro skeleton Photo by Bob Hoffman, Quartzsite, Arizona, 2000 The Museum is located at 161 W Main St., next to Silly Al's Pizza.
