LIKE US on Facebook.com/ DesertMessengerNews FOLLOW US on Twitter @QuartzsiteRain As I listent to the music I tuned to calm me down as I reach an- other important deadline, my mind wanders to the beauty of the night skies. Just as the clouds come in and offer a sweet watering for the desert plants, the clouds offer us the most incredible colors dancing across the skies. The one thing I've learned is the colors do not wait for me to get outside to enjoy the display. In other words, it's not all about me! I can choose to take time to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets, marveling at the beauty in the moment, or I could choose to hide inside. Either way, it's still my choice. I've also learned that I can eliminate "regret" by taking action; "adjusting my sails to always reach my destination." With the infl ux of visitors to our lovely little town, some folks can get cranky waiting in line a little bit By Shanana "Rain" BearCat longer, while others start conversta- tions with strangers in line; some creating lifelong friendships. Re- member we can't always change the direction of the wind or the length of the line at the Post Offi ce, but we can adjust our "sails" to have a different attitude about situations which arise. It's all a choice...OURS! Speaking of choice, we are living in such a unique community, fi lled with generous volunteers hosting so many events for visitors and resi- dents. Be sure to check www.Quartz- siteCalendar.com for the latest updates on events happening in the community. And if you're hosting an event, submit your listing for free! Cooperation of the two chambers working together exhibits a shift in consciousness toward a more harmonious nature. Sure, there are those who are blah, blah, but at- tend any event and you'll see the joy returning to our town. The smiles are everywhere... and it's not just "the reason for the season." It's larger than me or you; it's a deeper connnection to each other, even in times of struggles and tragedy. Hearts become open to the person standing in line next to us and we enjoy the blending of traditions, experience, strength and hope for the New Year. It's all good. I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination. ~Jimmy Dean DEADLINE : WED.
