alumni update
T
here have been plenty of changes for
Gamma Chapter this year, both challenging
and rewarding ones. I think as a chapter, our
alumni and undergraduate leaders have done
an exceptional job at rising to the occasion and
addressing each and every one appropriately.
On the undergraduate side, we are in the final
stages of an IRS audit examining nearly 10 tax
years. The chapter has hired an accountant to
help with the audit, and we decided to retain him
to help track the budget on a regular basis and
assist with annual tax returns. In doing so, we've
managed to minimize the costs and have so far
avoided any potential fines or penalties.
As we continue to improve upon agricultural
development at Gamma, we will participate
in the college career fair this semester and the
ΑΓΡ regional leadership seminar in March. We
are in the midst of appointing a new chapter
adviser to help Bryan Dillehay, Alpha Theta
'95 (Γ1638) balance the role, as Zach Larson
'00 (Γ1445) has recently resigned in order to
spend more family time at home. Also, the
funds donated for new furniture brought some
much-needed changes to the Great Hall, helping
us to maintain our "touch of class." Outside of
our chapter walls, there have been significant
changes to Greek life at Penn State, including
at the administrative level, as Dr. Baker recently
announced his resignation as the Director of
Greek Life. Our members face new challenges
every day, and often find themselves in a hostile
environment considering some of the recent
negative publicity on fraternities. However, I am
confident that our Gamma brothers will always
represent us well as they continue to fulfill our
purpose of making better men, and through
them, a broader and better agriculture. If you
have any questions at all, please do not hesitate
to contact me at corey.simmons@me.com or

The new furniture in the Great Hall at the
Gamma chapter house was made possible by
generous alumni, who donated over $5,000.
