Chi Zetagram 8 C hi Zeta is back on track, and with the anticipation of a new chapter house, morale is soaring. ere has been an increased effort in our academics and recruitment, as we wish to instill ourselves as leaders on campus, as well as in our brotherhood, scholarship, and philanthropic efforts. ACADEMIC CHANGES e chapter's GPA is a 3.13, which is above the IFC overall GPA of 3.12, which is higher than the all-men's GPA on campus. is ranks Chi Zeta 23 out of 47 total IFC chapters on campus. Although this is an important increase from the chapter's fall 2014 GPA, our focus on improving is continuing. e chapter has adopted a new academic plan in which students are required to garner points each week by doing various activities such as visiting study hours or getting As on their exams. SHOWING SUPPORT Aer a yearlong hiatus, Watermelon Bust, our main philanthropic event, has returned and we raised more than $2,000 dollars for the Eastern Illinois Food Bank. In addition, our philanthropy chairman, Joe Miceli '18 X2108, has organized several canned food drives, of which the most recent raised 500 pounds of canned foods to be donated to the EIFB. RAISING RECRUITMENT STANDARDS e chapter is excited to announce our 21-man associate member class for the fall of 2015. is is in addition to the current 66 initiated members already in the chapter, bringing our total membership to 87 brothers and growing. Chi Zeta has adopted a values-based recruitment policy to assure that we bring the right type of men into the chapter to continue pushing our chapter in the right direction. UPCOMING EVENTS We enjoyed a great all-chapter tailgate with our fathers for the recent Dads' Weekend, in addition to attending the game against e Ohio State University. Alumni Kim Kardas '74 X997 and Pete Kale '75 X1020 were on hand to discuss the new chapter house and transition plans with the families. Overall, the chapter is moving in the right direction, and the brothers are very excited about the possibility of the new chapter house. Our officers hope to pass our knowledge on to the next set of officers to continue on the positive path we are on. In ZAX, Alex Tazic '14 X2089 2015 High Alpha lxachizetapresident@gmail.com Lambda Chi Alpha Right on Track Chapter Focuses on Academics and Recruitment W e are very pleased to announce that Reginald "Reggie" Payne '13 has assumed responsibilities for the newly-created student house advisor position at Chi Zeta. Settling into the renovated suite built by volunteer brothers last summer, Reggie interacts with undergraduate members on a daily basis, during study and meal times, social events, as well as aiding the chapter officers and leadership of the chapter, under guidance from High Pi Steve Parsons, Phi Beta 341 '94. Reggie gained experience working with undergraduates through his work as an administrative assistant for the Urbana School District and the university housing department. e student house advisor's role will help alumni stay better connected to the undergraduate chapter, as part of our improved management initiatives, and it is already moving the chapter in a positive direction. "Reggie's skills and personality have helped him to quickly gain the respect of our brothers, as well as we alumni," Steve said. "I'm already benefitting from the new advisor function in my support of the chapter, and Reggie is exactly the quality of young man we hoped for as our first student house advisor."
