Page 5 Pike Press Brother Thomas Fiegener '12 represented Gamma Chi at the Academy this past summer in Memphis, Tennessee, with International Vice President Shad Williams '90 and International President John Bobango. At the Academy, Gamma Chi was presented with the Chapter of Excellence Award, which is awarded to the top 20% of Pike chapters across the country. GPA Continues to Rise Gamma Chi continues to improve in academics, increasing our spring 2015 GPA to a 2.82. Study hours are required for those attaining under a 3.0, and weekly meetings are held between the scholarship chairman and those who struggle academically to ensure that the chapter is doing everything it can to help our brothers succeed in the classroom. We utilize an app called MyGreekStudy that tracks study hours based upon GPS location. Pike Supports Big Brother Big Sister Program Gamma Chi's philanthropy efforts are stronger than ever. Last spring, we teamed up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Stillwater to put on a bowling tournament, Bowl for Kids' Sake, that raised funds for the program. The Gamma Chi bowling team raised more than $1,000 for the cause, which blew away all other competing Greek teams. In early November, Gamma Chi held its annual Welcome to the Jungle philanthropy event, which benefited the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Stillwater and included an exotic petting zoo, benefit night at a recently opened restaurant, and kickball tournament. New Pledge Program Brings Success Gamma Chi's summer recruitment was a wild success this year with 45 new men. These young men will be equipped to succeed thanks to a new initiative we have taken on—every week, each pledge has a one-on-one meeting with an older member to discuss pledgeship, family life, academics, etc. This allows us to continually provide pledges with guidance and support as they adjust to life as freshmen at OSU. Pike Academy Last summer, Gamma Chi sent nine men to the Academy in Memphis, Tennessee. Attendees were immersed in a positive environment where they learned a great deal regarding successful chapter operations and standards. At the awards banquet, Gamma Chi was recognized with the Chapter of Excellence Award, which is presented to the top 20% of chapters across the country. Gamma Chi also received Level II Recruitment Recognition and acknowledgement for strong Leadership Summit attendance and International Work Day participation. Possibly the most exciting event for Gamma Chi this semester was the groundbreaking ceremony on the new house at the corner of University and Monroe. Hundreds of dedicated alumni attended and made the event a success. On behalf of the chapter, I would like to again thank each and every one of you who has invested in the future of our great fraternity. It is because of you that Gamma Chi will continue to thrive for years to come. It is truly an exciting time to be a Gamma Chi. As Pi Kappa Alpha looks ahead to some of the best years of its history, we thank all of the alumni who have done so much to make our fraternity great. As always, we urge you to stop by the house next time you are in Stillwater. We would love to have the opportunity to get to know you. Fraternally, Thomas Fiegener '12 Chapter President thomas.fiegener@okstate.edu A team of dedicated brothers worked to clean up trash on Gamma Chi's Adopt-a-Highway on Highway 51 in Stillwater.
