The following defend- ants were sentenced in Tehama County Superior Court, according to the Te- hama County District At- torney's Office: RecentState/Local Prison Commitments: People vs. Jimmy Chaf- fin, Carry A Dirk or Dag- ger; Failure to Appear Af- ter Posting Bail. Brief history: In July 2014, the defendant pled guilty to possession of a dirk or dagger after police located a 3-inch bladed knife in his short's pocket during a consent search. The defendant was sen- tenced to 3 years prison— which included 18 months of mandatory supervision. In April 2015, while still on mandatory supervi- sion, the defendant was ar- rested after police located a 4-inch fixed blade knife concealed in his pocket during a traffic stop. After being released on bail, the defendant failed to appear in court on May 27, 2015, as required. Sentenced to a total of 4 years, 4 months local prison. People vs. Nick Gonza- lez, Possession of a Fire- arm by a Felon; Receiving Stolen Property-Motor Ve- hicle; First Degree Resi- dential Burglary. Brief history: In July 2014, District Attorney In- vestigators secured and served a search warrant at defendant's residence, finding four firearms, large quantities of ammunition, stolen model trains, and a stolen jet ski. In September 2015, Dis- trict Attorney Investi- gators served additional search warrants at three locations and the found defendant in possession of significant amounts of sto- len property taken during a burglary of a residence in Butte County. Sentenced to a total of 6 years state prison. People vs. Jeremy Dwayne Schulte, Escape. Brief history: In April 2015, the defendant was sentenced to a total of five years imprisonment after failing to comply with the terms of probation under Adult Felon Drug Court (AFDC). While on man- datory supervision in the above cases, the defendant was released from custody on an electronic monitor- ing device. The defendant then used a knife to cut off the monitor, and his whereabouts remained unknown until he was ar- rested a week later. Sentenced to a total of 6 years, 4 months state prison. People vs. Punikailani Nahinu, Corporal Injury to Cohabitant; Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Brief history: In April 2015, while released on post-release community supervision for an unre- lated felony conviction, the defendant became in- volved in an argument with the mother of his child after she confronted him about some metham- phetamine she had located in his belongings. When she refused to tell him what she had done with it, the defen- dant grabbed her by the arms, pushed her against the wall, pulled down her pants, and attempted to punch her. The following month, defendant was involved in another disturbance with a different victim, when he showed up at the victim's home, with several men and a woman, to demand he return property belong- ing to the woman. When the defendant approached the victim in a threatening manner, the victim tried to run away with the help of his friend. The defendant pushed the friend away and the woman repeatedly struck him on the head with a metal flashlight. The vic- tim then picked up a can- dlestick and began swing- ing it at the intruders. The defendant then got a base- ball bat from the car and started swinging it at the victim. The incident was caught on surveillance video and the defendant was identi- fied from a photographic lineup. Sentenced to a total of 5 years state prison. Recent County Jail Commitments: People vs. Esteban Ray- mundo Ceja, Corporal In- jury to Cohabitant. Brief history: The de- fendant and his girlfriend of three months got into an argument over rela- tionship issues. During the argument, the defen- dant grabbed the victim, pushed her to the ground, and bit her shoulder. The defendant left the resi- dence but returned later and broke the victim's car windshield. Sentenced to probation and 141 days jail. People vs. William Muck, Injuring Cohabitant After Prior Conviction. Brief history: The defen- dant and his girlfriend of two years were returning home from a road trip and stopped in Red Bluff for the night. About an hour after checking into the motel, the defendant told the victim to leave because he paid for the room. When the victim ignored him, he got on top of her and punched her sev- eral times in the face. When officer arrived, they deter- mined the defendant was in violation of a restraining order preventing him from being within 100 yards of the victim. Sentenced to 3 years probation, 40 hours com- munity service, and 330 days jail. People vs. Justin Joseph Gerbich, Lewd Act Upon a Child. Brief history: The de- fendant was 18 years old when he began a dating re- lationship with the 11 year old victim. Due to the de- fendant being homeless, the victim invited him to stay at her house. The vic- tim lied to her mother and said the defendant was 14 years old so she would al- low him to stay. One eve- ning, the mother caught the defendant and victim kissing and touching each other in a sexual man- ner, on two separate occa- sions. The defendant ini- tially claimed he thought the victim was older, but then admitted he knew she was only 11. Sentenced to 3 years probation and 548 days jail. People vs. Brandon John Perez, Corporal Injury to Spouse. Brief history: The defen- dant was on probation for a separate offense and or- dered to have "no contact" with the victim, whom he formerly dated. Upon hear- ing he may not be the fa- ther of the victim's baby, the defendant went to her home, shoved her against the wall, choked her and threatened to kill her. Sentenced to 3 years probation, 180 days jail, 80 hours community service, and suspended prison term of 5 years, 8 months. People vs. Connie Ste- vens, First Degree Resi- dential Burglary. Brief history: The vic- tim allowed the defendant, who was homeless, to take a shower at his apartment. While the defendant show- ered, the victim fell asleep on the couch. When the vic- tim awoke, he realized nu- merous items were missing from his home. Video sur- veillance from the apart- ment complex showed the defendant entering the victim's apartment four times, carrying out a dif- ferent item each time. Sentenced to 5 years probation, 364 days jail, and 80 hours community service. Upcoming Court Dates -Trials, Preliminary Hearings (PX) & Pre Trial Conferences (PTC): People vs. James Jo- seph Pulizzano, Attempt, Willful, Deliberate and Premeditated Murder (2 counts), with Allegation Use of Firearm, (2 counts), Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Assault with a Firearm with Allegation, Use of Firearm (2 counts), Criminal Threats. Brief history: The Defen- dant and the victim were arguing. The Defendant pulled out a revolver and started shooting at her. The victim's son was in the direct line of fire. The De- fendant missed both vic- tims but riddled the house with shots. The Defendant threatened to kill the vic- tim. The Defendant is a felon. Brief history: The De- fendant was arrested and charged with the murder of a 14 year old victim who had been reported missing when she never returned home from school. Officers located the victim's body two days later. Status Conference: To determine if the defense has retained a bug expert, on Dec. 14 at 1:30 pm in De- partment 27 (Sacramento) Trial Readiness Confer- ence: January 8, 2016 at 9 am in Department 27 (Sac- ramento) First Day of Trial: Rul- ings on Motions-in-Li- mine/Jury Selection, Feb- ruary 8, 2016 at 9 am in Department 27 (Sacra- mento) First Day of Evidence: February 22, 2016 at 9 am in Department 27 (witness subpoena date) People vs. Travis John Kilburger, Solicitation of Murder (2 counts) Brief history: Defendant was in custody on domes- tic violence charges when he solicited another in- mate to kill two individ- uals in exchange for cash and a vehicle. TBJ: Vacated. Defendant Plead guilty. SENTENCING: Febru- ary 12, 2016 at 1 pm (De- partment to be deter- mined) People vs. Poly Duenas Sanchez, Lucio Nenecia Madera, Gabino Madera, Murder with Special Al- legation-Personal and In- tentional Discharge of a Firearm, GBI, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime with Special Allegation Per- sonal and Intentional Dis- charge of a Firearm, GBI. Brief history: The victim had met up with the three Defendants regarding money that was allegedly owed to the victim. During this confrontation the vic- tim was chased down and shot twice with a shotgun. The victim died as a result of his injuries. TBJ: March 2, 2016 at 1:30 pm (Department to be determined) People vs. Alan Duane Doulphus Jr., Chase Alan Doulphus: Murder, special allegation felony murder, personal and intentional, use of a firearm, assault with a firearm, false im- prisonment by violence, transportation of mari- juana. Brief history: The de- fendants went to a res- idence that contained a marijuana grow. The de- fendants confronted the victim and two other men who were at the residence and ordered them to the ground at gunpoint. The defendants proceeded to tie up the victim and the two men with zip ties and duct tape. The victim was able to free himself and at- tempt to flee the residence but was shot several times by the armed defendants. The victim eventually suc- cumbed to his injuries. Defendant's vehicle was located a short time later and a vehicle pursuit fol- lowed. Defendant's were eventually apprehended and taken into custody. Inside the vehicle officers located a large amount of marijuana. Brief history: The Defen- dant is charged with shoot- ing and killing his ex-wife and her father, and shoot- ing a bystander.
