Zeta Chapter of Kappa Delta at the University of Alabama - Fall 2015 The Katydid KAPPA DELTA CHAPTER HOUSE COMPLETE Campaign Not Yet Over! Help Us Reach $3 Million! N early eight years ago, in 2007, The University of Alabama president and now chancellor, Dr. Robert E. Witt, created a master plan for the Tuscaloosa campus. Included in this plan was the opportunity for Greek chapters to renovate and rebuild in order to grow the Greek community even more. In this plan, Dr. Whitt wrote the following: "As we walk the Capstone today, we enjoy the shade of trees we did not plant, the music of chimes we did not build, and the benefit of programs we did not initiate. However, it's now our time and responsibility to provide for the future. It's time to plant trees whose shade we will not enjoy and to support the education of young men and women yet to be born. Now is the time for us to choose. And we choose to transform the future." Since 2007, almost every single fraternity and sorority at The University of Alabama has undergone a major renovation or rebuild of their beloved chapter houses. And in 2011, we began that process for Kappa Delta. Today, our new Chapter House shines as one of the biggest and best on campus. Kappa Delta truly is transforming the future at UA, and that is something to celebrate! And celebrate we did! A few weeks ago, more than 1,200 alumnae, friends, parents, and supporters gathered at the Kappa Delta Chapter House for our house dedication event that was skillfully planned by Franie Morris Deaton '84, Mary Jane Partlow Moore '02, and their committee. Throughout the weekend, sisters reminisced on their college days and celebrated the next chapter in Kappa Delta's rich history. We are excited to announce that to date we have raised the most money out of all the sororities at The University of Alabama for our First Sorority, First Circle…Continuing the Tradition campaign. More than 670 alumnae, parents, friends, and community members have pledged their support to the tune of more than $2.79 million for our new Chapter House. And we are reaping the benefits from their contributions. In August, KD had its most successful recruitment to date and welcomed home 134 new members, bringing our total membership to 401. These young women are the future of Kappa Delta. And let us be the first to tell you that the future is bright!
