Knightly News fall 2015 Sigma Nu Fraternity s UNIVERSITY OF southern california Epsilon Omicron Chapter is Stronger than Ever Alumni and Undergraduates Enjoy Chapter House Renovations and "Old Man" Golf Tournament Alumni enjoy reconnecting and reminiscing at Sigma Nu's 2015 "Old Man" Golf Tournament. Undergraduates take pride in the Chapter's new sport court. Bryan Lynn '79, Mark Garavaglia '78, and Greg Yoder '79 at the USC vs. Utah football game. I hope this semi-annual communication finds you well, and you are enjoying the fall season. As for the Epsilon Omicron Chapter of Sigma Nu at USC, the actives and alumni have been busy bees. OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW As you may know, the Holding Corporation is the entity that owns the house at 660 W. 28th Street. Forty-one underclassmen call our house on the row their home, with an additional 70 gentlemen living offsite. The physical plant is in great shape, and our fiscal condition is strong. This summer, we completed two substantial projects at the house. • The rebuilding of the rooftop deck that was necessary do to some faulty construction and design issues. We are doing our best to secure reimbursement from our contractor's insurance carrier. • The replacement of the sport court, whose drainage problems and decay were in dire need of renovation. ALUMNI, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT As for the Holding Corporation's fiscal condition, we are in good shape. With 41 actives living in and a strong summer rental season behind us, barring an unforeseen calamity, we will stay fiscally strong for the foreseeable future. However, we do have a number of brothers who have not fulfilled their pledge toward the campaign and we are banking on everyone to fulfill their promise. In addition, if you were not able to contribute during these past years and you are able to now, we welcome your participation. JOIN US FOR THE 2016 "OLD MAN" GOLF TOURNAMENT The fall started with Chris Schaller '82, EO 982 hosting Sigma Nu's "Old Man" Golf Tournament at the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course with more than 45 brothers—from sophomore active members to some truly old guys—in attendance. We enjoyed perfect weather, brotherly bonding, and updating one another on personal and professional endeavors. This was indeed a perfect USC Sigma Nu event. Many thanks to Chris for his hard work and dedication to making the golf tournament a success! Brother Schaller is seeking assistance with planning the next golf tournament, which will be held September 9, 2016 at Arroyo Trabuco. He asks that you "please help fill the tournament with 144 brothers in 2016—and raise a few scholarship dollars." If you're interested in lending a hand, please contact Chris at cschaller@comade.com. It's never too early to get in touch with brothers and start getting a foursome together! The Holding Corporation alumni group hosted tailgates earlier this season that had an excellent turnout. Unfortunately, the Trojan football team did not get the memo to defeat Stanford, Washington, and Notre Dame. I'm thinking we might have to wait another year for a National title. The HC alumni group will be hosting tailgates each home game, and we encourage you to join us. This is a great opportunity to reconnect with brothers and share laughs and memories from your days in Epsilon Omicron. To locate us on game day, text (314) 960-7282, (310) 283-7442, or (626) 825-1188 to get directions. We look forward to seeing you there!
