Michigan Gamma Chapter O n behalf of the Michigan Gamma Chapter, I am pleased to express our full support of A New Chapter in Michigan Gamma's Legacy, Realizing the Bill Fiscus Vision campaign. We are committed to what the future holds for Michigan Gamma. I am proud to share that we could not be in a better position for the future. With recruitment numbers setting personal records and the first annual Paddy Murphy Week, we have solidified our position as the top chapter on campus. We continue our quest to be a Zeal organization and will not stop improving. Michigan Gamma Welcomes 31 New Members As recruitment came to a close, we are proud to say that we had more than 200 young men come through our house and we extended 31 bids. We couldn't be happier with our new class full of leaders and scholars. The active brothers made sure to select men that will continue the True Gentlemen legacy we have built here. Keeping Grades Top Priority The brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon have continued to keep their grades a number one priority. With our new scholarship chairman, Matt Luberto '17, we have made personal goals for all brothers who have struggled with school and we have been working with them individually on a weekly basis to raise their GPA to chapter standards. The chapter average is a 3.11 and is one of the top GPAs in the Michigan State Greek community. We hold our academics over everything and keep striving to have the best average GPA on campus. First Annual Michigan Gamma Paddy Murphy Week For the first time ever, the brothers of Michigan Gamma hosted Paddy Murphy Week. Events were held from September 21 through September 25. Paddy Murphy Week honors the legend by promoting unity among brothers and friendly competition within the Panhellenic community. The proceeds from the events benefitted the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, an organization specializing in cancer research and treatment. The center helped save Alex Berlin '14. He was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer in his calf. Since his diagnosis his senior year, Alex has been battling the cancer and as of now is, thankfully, completely cancer free. Additionally, we were able to donate $1,000 to the winning sorority to symbolize Paddy Murphy leaving his fortune to his wife. The event was a huge success and we received recognition campus- wide. Third Annual Alumni Golf Tournament a Success The brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon have made a point to try and create relationships with the older and younger alumni of ΣΑΕ. We had our third annual Alumni Golf Outing on September 20 and we had an excellent turnout. It was a great opportunity for new brothers and active brothers to create bonds with alumni and gain connections for the world after college. Michigan Gamma Chapter is entering a very critical time in our journey, and we realize that your support is invaluable. We want to share our successes with alumni everywhere because they are yours as much as they are ours. Take the time to reconnect with your brothers, and we invite you to visit us at the chapter house as we begin this new chapter in our legacy.
