Quartzsite, AZ - The Fire Board and the staff would like to congratu- late Quartzsite Fire Captain, Kevin Cushman for completing 20 years of service as a professional fire- fighter! Although he became a full time member in October of 1995, his career as a volunteer firefighter began in 1992. Through the years he and his family have sacrificed much so that he could serve others. Many hours of training out of town and calls for service within the 175 square mile district require a great deal of fortitude. He has endured the hardship of other people's worst days, unpredictable working con- ditions and weather and he keeps coming back for more! As a matter of fact Kevin followed in the footsteps of his grandfather who assisted with the organization of the department, as well as his Dad, Wayne who worked his way through the chain of command, starting as a firefighter, then finish- ing up as chief! Captain Cushman says he intends to work at least another 13 years, so that his total tenure equals 33. After all, Quartzsite Fire District is Station 33!
