3 Phi Sigma Kappa Members clean up the chapter house in the spring. The chapter welcomed nine new associates in the spring. Delta Triton Prepares for New Members Chapter Focused on Recruitment, GPA, and Philanthropy D elta Triton is excited and optimistic about the fall semester. After a successful spring recruitment, we look to improve and grow on our previous achievements with another outstanding recruitment class. Many of our accomplishments are attributed to a new system allowing potential new members to fraternize with our active brothers more often and give more opportunities for them to experience our chapter and what we have to offer. Recruitment Chairman Gordon Read '18 put together a plan for a continuous recruitment schedule that has events almost every night. We contacted Phired Up, a recruitment organization based out of Carmel, Indiana, and they helped increase our chapter moral. The biannual Meet the Greeks event was extremely successful this year. We received more interest than ever before. We've already seen 10 bids turned in from these recruitment events. Two current actives are graduating this semester, which puts us at a minimum net eight additional actives in growth for the semester. Our main focus this year is to increase membership, maintain a high GPA, and increase service hours. Our current number of active brothers is 20, with 17 of those living in the chapter house this semester. We reached our peak membership last semester at 26 and see ourselves passing that this semester. Last semester, the chapter had a 3.05 GPA, placing seventh among all Greek chapters on campus. In the past four semesters, we've placed in the top 10 for GPA, and came in first two semesters ago. Last semester, we implemented a new requirement that each member had to obtain at least three service hours. This worked well and we pulled in 55 service hours for the chapter. This semester, we believe we'll have more than 100 service hours. Our philanthropy efforts provided more than $1,500 to the Special Olympics last semester, bringing us in seventh among all of the Greek organizations on campus. We hope to host our own philanthropy event this semester so we can raise money for a cause much like what other chapters have done. We've created a website for our chapter that will have a calendar so you can keep up with the events of Delta Triton. You can find it at http://web. ics.purdue.edu/~phisig.
