The Indiana Gram Chapter Focused on Academics, Philanthropy, and Alumni Involvement Undergraduates Maintain 3.4 Average GPA T his is the time of year I look forward to sharing the undergraduates' progress against our shared goals and objectives: GPA, recruitment, community service, intramurals, strengthening the relationship with the University, Little 500, building the brand/developing True Gentlemen, and increasing alumni involvement. Undergraduates Successful on Campus I am proud to share that our undergraduates were second overall from a fraternity perspective in GPA for the first semester with a 3.454 GPA; the second semester was 3.428! The undergraduates completed more than 4,500 hours of community service, became even more competitive in intramurals, continue to work closely with the University, and finished fourth by a wheel at the Little 500. The Chapter house is at capacity and the pledge classes have been outstanding; committed to promoting the highest standards of friendship, scholarship and service for our members based upon the ideals set forth by our Founders and as specifically enunciated in The True Gentleman. Order of the Lion Awards From an alumni perspective, we awarded the Order of the Lion to Jim (Fish) Fissinger '83 and Dave (Bear) Barrick '79 for their tireless support, fundraising, leadership, and revival of the Little 500 team. We also awarded Dave (Slyhut) Keller '81 and Brian (Red) Tuohy '77 for their continued leadership and commitment to the annual golf outing—our primary source of funding for alumni events and undergraduate Leadership School. The House Corporation and Alumni Association can always use more help. Anyone interested in getting more active in the fraternity should reach out to me directly at smitchell@ameritech.net. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Homecoming, details will be forthcoming. Phi Alpha, Steve Mitchell '83 President House Corporation/Alumni Association (312) 203-4455 Brothers You Can Count On Nick Hall '92 SHareS impact of SAE memberSHip N ick Hall '92 found in Indiana Gamma a diverse group of men who became his lifelong friends and extended family. They encouraged him to embark on new adventures and taught him about leadership and responsibility. "If I could go back, I'd rejoin SAE all over again. They helped me develop into the leader I am today." When Nick was a senior, he and several other brothers in his pledge class chose to live in the Chapter house, which was uncommon at the time. This core group, however, wanted to be leaders for the Chapter. "Some of my best memories were from that year. It was so wonderful to develop those close relationships and show younger brothers what leadership is." Nick is the co-founder and president of Graham's Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for families that are going through the premature birth of their baby. His son, Graham, and daughter, Reece, were born prematurely and, after going through their struggle as parents, Nick and his wife, Jennifer, founded Graham's Foundation in memory of their son. Nick says the best part about the foundation is knowing every day that there are parents just like he and his wife that are going through the same heart-wrenching experience and that they are helping them through that experience. They truly value being able to make a difference for others. Bike team captain, Andy Krahulik '16, and team rider, Arjun Sridhar '15, train for the Little 500 race in the newly repainted Indiana Gamma cycling training facility. If I could go back, I'd rejoin SAE all over again. They helped me develop into the leader I am today." "
