Gamma Upsilon House Corporation & Alumni Association P.O. Box 33504 Raleigh, NC 27636 Address Service Requested GUZ BUZ For Gamma Upsilon Chapter to be successful, Jim believes that the Chapter House is essential. "For a fraternity to be viable and be an integral part of campus life you need to have a Chapter House. The house can also be a connection point for alumni brothers when they visit the university." Jim believes giving to the Gamma Upsilon is also a gift to NCSU. Lambda Chi Alpha will help enrich student life by encouraging young men to be leaders and give them a home and support system while they are at school. "I gave to the campaign because I felt Lambda Chi was a great experience for me. Having high- quality, affordable fraternity housing on campus will give other young men coming to NCSU an opportunity to enjoy the fraternal experience we all enjoyed. I see this as a gift to the University and future brothers. I want to help to establish Lambda Chi Alpha at NCSU to be successful so that it can influence young men for years to come." commercial kitchen from scratch. We now have a professional chef who feeds our brothers and allows us to eat meals together daily. The biggest growth in our Chapter occurred in the fall of 2014. We spent countless nights during the summer restructuring recruitment strategies so that we would be prepared for recruitment. Needless to say, our guys knocked it out of the park. In November, we initiated 32 associate members, making it the largest new member class in Gamma Upsilon Chapter history. All of the associate members had superior GPAs, excelled in sports, were in involved in various organizations, and showed good character. We continued our recruitment success this spring when we extended 14 bids to excellent guys, all of whom decided to join. Our Chapter roster now tops 87 dedicated members. Our recent success has not gone unnoticed. Last fall we were awarded as the 2014 NC State University Fraternity of the Year. House Corporation President Jerry Lassiter, GU 567, was awarded Outstanding Greek Volunteer. Former GU President and InterFraternity Council President Jake Laroe, GU 1204, was awarded the NC State Fraternity Man of the Year. In addition, many of our brothers excelled in campus clubs, student government, and intramural sports. Our Fraternity GPA for the fall was a 3.177, which is the second highest of the 22 IFC fraternities, and 30 members achieved Dean's List status. We ramped up our philanthropic efforts as well. At this point in the school year we have collected over 22,000 pounds of food for Feeding America. On March 1, we held our annual Bounce4Kay basketball tournament, where we raised more than $2,500 for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. We hosted the Colonial Conclave at NC State the last weekend in February with record attendance. More than 110 undergraduate members of Lambda Chi from all over North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina were in attendance. It was the first time ever that Gamma Upsilon Chapter hosted the conference. It is undoubtedly a great time to be a Lambda Chi at NC State. Despite our recent success, our undergraduates have a mission to grow and improve every semester. We are building a Chapter with a sustainable culture that is a partner with both NC State Greek Life and the International Fraternity. It is our goal to sustain and for future NC State students to have the opportunity to take part in the life-changing experience of Gamma Upsilon Chapter. We are now setting our sights on becoming the best Lambda Chi Chapter nationally. We thank your for your support because without the help of our dedicated alumni we would not be where we are today. We hope you will join us in this awesome experience. In Z.A.X., Malcom Benitz, GU 1229 High Alpha mrbenitz@aol.com Undergraduates and Alumni Share Success (Continued from page 3) James W.
