Huntley, a Godly man, age 88, of Rutherfordton, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 Preacher Wade was the son of the late Jesse & Nancy Huntley. In addition to his parents he was pre- ceded in death by broth- ers; Rev. William Huntley, Tom Huntley, Rev. Ted Huntley, Monroe Huntley & George Huntley; sisters Lillian Curtis, Charlotte Ludlum, Molly Lefteris & Catherine DeWitt. He pastored Holly Springs Baptist Church for 59 years. He was a US Navy veteran of WW II. Wade attended North Greenville Junior College from 1952 to 1955 & was a graduate of Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute class of 1960. He was also the pastor of Broad River Baptist Church in Henderson County prior to coming to Holly Springs. Wade was a mem- ber of the NC Walking Horseman's associa- tion. He loved hors- es & his favorite was "Double Overtime" who attained the status of Top Ten Champion for the Years 2011 & 2012 for the Amateur 50 & Over Division according to Walking Horse Reports. "Double Overtime is trained by Derrick Bonner. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years: Cleo Owenby Huntley. One brother: Rev. John Huntley & his wife Jessie. One sister-in-law: Irene Huntley. Several Nieces & Nephews. The funeral service was held at Holly Springs Baptist Church & broad- cast over WWOL Radio with Rev. Stacey Layne, Rev. Charles Worley and Rev. Scott Moneyham officiating. Interment held at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Tim Hodge & James Henson officiating. McMahan's Funeral Home & Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements. VADAH MATHIS ROLLINS Vadah Mathis Rollins, age 98, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015. Vadah was a native of Polk County and the daughter of the late Mark Arthur Mathis and the late Leila Durham Mathis. She was a resident of Oak Grove Health Care Center for three years. She was predceded in death by her husband N.J. Rollins, son; David Lee Rollins; one daugh- ter in law; Kathy Rollins; five brothers; Omar Mathis, Grady Mathis, Larry Mathis, J L Mathis, and Michel Mathis; two sisters; Bertha Camp and Alma Walker. She is sur- vived by two sons: Arthur Rollins and wife Faith Ann of Rutherfordton. Max Rollins of Rutherfordton. Three Grandchildren: Arty Rollins and wife Vonda Kay, Adam Rollins and wife Brandee, Allison Bess and husband David. Four Great-Grandchildren. The funeral service was held at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Keith Stephenson officiating. Interment was held at Mt. View Baptist Church Cemetery, Rutherfordton. GEORGIA HUTCHINS OWENS Georgia Hutchins Owens, age 75, of Ellenboro, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015. Born April 20, 1940 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Tildon Hutchins and Mary Gettys Hutchins. She worked for Burlington Industries for over twen- ty years and was a CNA for Carolina Home Care for several years. She was a member of Harris First Baptist Church and enjoyed reading and yard work. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Clarence Owens; one grandchild, Leslie Hawkins; four brothers, Elbert, Glen, Hayes and Perry Hutchins; three sis- ters, Rachel Daves, Julie Glover and Lettie Crowe. Survivors include two daughters, Alice Hopkins Merck of Caroleen and Linda Hawkins Morrow of Ellenboro; two sons, Bobby Harold Hawkins and wife, Angela of Shelby and Benny T. Hawkins of Mooresboro; two broth- ers, John Hutchins of Caroleen and Clarence "Buck" Hutchins & wife, Sandra also of Caroleen; one sister, Betty Baynard of Bostic. She is also sur- vived by 7 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend George Whitmire officiating. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements. MARY 'ELOISE' SUGGS JAMES Mary 'Eloise' Suggs James passed away peacefully at her home in Bostic on July 24, 2015. Born in Rutherford County to Walter William Suggs & Eula Mae Christy of Cliffside, on May 19, 1929, Eloise was 5th of 7 children. She was pre- ceded in death by her husband, Howard Junior James as well as her siblings, Colin Suggs, Gwendolyn "Judy" Suggs Engleman, Marjorie Suggs Sims, & Jack Suggs. Eloise was a graduate of Cliffside High School and attended Wake Forest University & Gardner- Webb College. She was a seamstress & worked for Doncaster-Tanner Companies where she retired in 1989. Following retirement she continued to work part-time for the Rutherford County Transit Authority until 1997. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Forest City. Survivors include her 5 children, David H. James & wife Janet of Forest City, Walter Richard James & wife Rebecca of Gaffney, SC, Penny C. James of Asheville, Betsy J. James of Bostic, & Sarah J. Pate & husband Phil of North Myrtle Beach, SC, sisters, Ann Suggs Yarbrough of Marvin, & Elizabeth Suggs Tanner of Milledgeville, GA. a sister-in-law, Jean Suggs of Aiken, SC as well as 9 grandchildren & 8 great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Reverend Dr. Neil Haynes officiating. The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. C. DOUGLAS TONEY C. Douglas Toney, age 72 of Bostic, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015. He was born November 1, 1942 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Virgil and Blanche McCurry Toney. Doug worked for the Rutherford County Schools and retired as Head Custodian at the Ellenboro School. He was member of Concord Baptist Church for sixty years where he had served as a Deacon, was a member of the church choir, Sunday School Teacher as well as Director of Sunday School and served on the Cemetery Committee. Doug was also a veteran of the United States Army and enjoyed gardening. Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Kathy Biggerstaff Toney of the home, son Kevin Toney of Ellenboro, a daughter, Deborah Toney Deaton of Boiling Springs, NC, brothers, Phil Toney of Bostic and Hugh Toney of Ellenboro. There are also three grandchildren, Hunter Toney, Abigail Toney and Natalee Deaton. Funeral services were held in the Concord Baptist Church with Reverend Travis Laflin officiating. Interment was private for the fam- ily in the church ceme- tery. The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. MARY LUCY BOWEN YARBROUGH Mary Lucy Bowen Yarbrough, age 82 of Ellenboro, NC passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015. She was born June 25, 1933 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late James William Bowen and Mary Bell Roper Bowen. Lucy was a seamstress and worked for many years at the former Skyland Textiles Plant in Forest City. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and was a devoted mother, and a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Her husband, Robert Hoyle Yarbrough and her daugh- ter, Patsy Gail Yarbrough Luckadoo preceded her in death. Survivors include her sons, Dale Yarbrough and wife Linda, Jim Yarbrough and wife Marian all of Ellenboro. There are ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grand- children. Funeral services were held in the Corinth Baptist Church with Reverend Ad Hopper and Reverend Sam Henderson officiat- ing. Interment followed in the church cemetery. JANICE ODESSA HALL RICHEY Janice Odessa Hall Richey, 77 of High Drive, widow of Joe A. Richey, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, July 24, 2015 at Park Place Assisted Living. Born February 2, 1938 in Weedville, PA., she was a daughter of the late Thomas K. Hall & Anna Beck Hall. Those left to cherish her memory are a daugh- ter, Janna Lee & hus- band Bill of Simpsonville; sons, Joe A. Richey Jr. of Spartanburg, Jonathan Richey & wife Amy of Chesnee; sister, Shelia Clark of Baltimore, MD.; grandchildren, Jamella McCall, Julianna Lee, Jon Foster Richey, Olivia Richey & great-grand- children, Cole & Kaylee McCall. Funeral services were held at Keowee Baptist Church in Honea Path, SC with Pastor Don Horton & Rev. Daryl Tolleson offi- ciating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. BILLY JOE BEAVER Billy Joe Beaver, 78, of Sarratt Creek Road, Gaffney, SC, died on Friday, July 24, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. A native of Cherokee County, South Carolina, he was born on December 10, 1936, a son of the late Benny Beaver & Oma Sisk Beaver. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force & was a member of Camps Creek Baptist Church. He loved all types of sports, motorcycles, anything outdoors & was an avid reader. In addition to his par- ents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Beaver & James Beaver; one sister, Eva Ivey. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois Walker Beaver; two sons, Teddy Beaver & wife Avonne of Charleston & Terry Beaver of Gaffney; one sister-in- law, Betty Walker Dotson of Shelby; his grandchil- dren, Jennifer Price and husband Randall, Chad Beaver & wife Francis, Teresa Johnson & hus- band Ben, & Cole Beaver; his great grandchildren, Tiffany Price, Taylor Price, Justin Beaver, Aspen Beaver, Olivia Price, Gabriel Johnson, & numerous nieces & neph- ews. Funeral services were held at Camps Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Morehead officiating. Burial followed in the church ceme- tery with Military Honors accorded by the US Air Force. ANNE DAVIS JENKINS Anne Davis Jenkins, 82, of Mooresboro, NC, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015. A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Lowery Buford and Minnie May Carver Davis. She attended Caroleen Methodist Church and was the owner of The Tobacco Hut in Forest City. Left to cherish her memory is her hus- band, Robert Jenkins of the home; daugh- ters, Toni Anne Burns of Mooresboro and Diane Beason of California; son Robert Stephen Jenkins of Mooresboro; grand- children Randi Lynne Damren of Gaffney, SC, Elizabeth Lynne Burns of Mooresboro, David Patrick Jenkins of Mooresboro, and three other grandchil- dren; eleven great grand- children. Memorial services will be held 3PM, Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Caroleen United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Heart Association, 128 S.
