Summer 2015 AlumnuS Spotlight 2 ChApter report 3 Alumni newS 4 Gamma Kappa Visions lAmbdA Chi AlphA • univerSity of miSSouri T he men of Gamma Kappa are an outstanding group of guys who strive to be the best on campus. To be the best, they need our continued support. The hous- ing board met in May and discussed upgrades needed to the chapter house, summer events and Homecoming, the need to increase alumni involvement, and continued to evaluate our long-term goal for the chapter house. As everyone is aware, the chapter has been doing amazing things the past few years. The chapter placed second overall in Greek Week 2015. They are always top in grades and in- volvement on campus. Over 90 percent of our members are involved in some capacity on campus. They also received an excellent rating from our national consultant this past semes- ter, receiving a perfect score for all standards. The board would like to thank everyone who came out to the Kansas City and St. Louis baseball games this summer. A great time was had by all and we are looking forward to seeing everyone again for Homecoming, set for October 10. We have already blocked off rooms and are working to block off tickets for the game as well. Please plan on being at the chapter house for our annual tailgate and hog roast before the game. More details will be sent out as everything is finalized. The housing corporation met in May and discussed the up- coming summer cleanup. The board hired a professional cleaner to clean the entire house before members move back in this fall, and hired a landscaper to take care of the yard during the summer months. As the board continues to evaluate and work to make sure the chapter house is meet- ing the needs of all of our members, we are constantly looking for ways to improve the structure of the house and maintain safety for all members. At our last board meeting, our walkthrough showed us that numerous items need to be updated. We need a new roof, including a new front awning for the porch. The fire escapes need repaired in order to pass inspection. The ceiling on all levels needs to be replaced as the plaster is start- ing to fall down. We are also required by the City of Columbia to have a sprinkler system installed by the spring of 2016. The board has been maintaining the property and fixing issues as they arise; however, at this point, we need major help in fixing all areas of the structure. As we look to the future of Gamma Kappa, we know that we need to begin making some strategic decisions regarding the lon- gevity of our current structure. The board would like to encourage everyone who can to get involved with the chapter in some capacity. As the chapter continues to grow in membership and accolades, they need our continued help to make them even greater. With every- one's help, Gamma Kappa could easily become the number one fraternity on campus. If you can help, please reach out to me at banwander@gmail.com, President of the Alumni Asso- ciation Steve Oslica '06 at steve.oslica@gmail.com, or Chap- ter Advisor Matt VanRonzelen '03 at mattvanron@yahoo. com. Make sure to pay your dues to the alumni association and attend our meetings during Homecoming in October. Thank you for your continued interest in Gamma Kappa. With everyone's help we can truly turn ideas into action. I look forward to meeting you at Homecoming. Please contact us if you are interested in helping.
