First Annual Woodemen of the World WOW Chapter 518 Scholarship Awarded Madeline Pauley, recent high school graduate from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, NC, is the recipient of the fi rst annual Woodmen of the World WOW Chapter 518 Scholarship. She is the daughter of Ed and Deanna Pauley of Shelby, NC. She was presented her award on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the chapter meeting. Madeline was selected by the WOW scholarship committee because of her academic resume and community service. Madeline plans to attend ECU in the fall to study exercise sci- ence then pursue a degree in physical therapy. Scholarships are available to high school graduates who are members of Woodmen of the World who meet academic and civic qualifi cations. Child Support Announces Anonymous Tip Line The Cleveland County Child Support Offi ce has opened a new tip Line to allow the public to anonymously report the whereabouts and any other information of noncustodial parents who may be avoiding establishment and/or enforcement of a child support order. Tipsters will be able to call the Tip Line 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. They will not be asked to leave their name or any other identifying information. When calling the Tip Line, helpful information would include the noncustodial parent's full name, date of birth, current address, phone number, place of employment, vehicle tag number, or any other information that could lead to the location of the person. The number for the Tip Line is 704-487-0661 and when prompted for an extension, dial extension 727. CLASS REUNIONS CLASS REUNIONS Shelby High School Class of 1955 The Shelby High School Class of 1955 has planned their 60th reunion on Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22, 2015. Friday, August 21: early arrivals will meet at Alston Bridges BBQ at 3:00pm for a 'taste of hometown BBQ'. Friday evening there will be a performance by "Elvis and his Band" at the Don Gibson Theatre. The lounge opens at 6:30 and doors to the theatre open at 7:30pm with the concert beginning at 8:00pm. Saturday noon: classmates will meet in the private dining room for a luncheon at Ichiban, 1712 East Dixon Blvd., Shelby, NC. An afternoon tour is planned after the luncheon. Saturday night will be a social time and dinner at the Don Gibson Theatre. Doors to the lounge will open at 5:00pm with hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and "meet and greet". 6:00pm: dinner of BBQ pork and chicken with all the trimmings will be catered by Harry McKee. Town of Lattimore 4th of July Celebration The Town of Lattimore invites everyone to be a part of the annual Fourth of July parade and celebration on Saturday, July 4, 2015. Entries will begin lining up for the parade on Oak Drive/Towery Road at 8:00am. The parade will begin at 9:00am and go up Westlee, Main, and Price Streets. Parade entries will include law enforcement vehicles, antique cars, horses, tractors, and much more! At the conclusion of the parade, a special program will be presented at the recreation park of Lattimore Baptist Church. The program will begin around 10:00am and will include the National Anthem, the recognition of veterans, and live music by the bluegrass duo of Darin and Brooke Aldridge. Come early to get a prime seat and enjoy food sold along the parade route by the Lattimore Baptist Church youth group.
