Michigan Gamma Today Rising from the Ashes Since our chapter's return to Michigan State in 2012, Michigan Gamma has risen to new heights. In 2013, Michigan Gamma was honored with the national Colony of the Year award. e undergraduates continue to excel across all components of student and Greek life at Michigan State and are outstanding representatives of the ΣΑΕ letters. Academics – e undergraduate chapter GPA is above 3.0, which puts it above the all-male Michigan State average and in the top third among IFC fraternities. Recruitment – Michigan Gamma does not recruit the average student. Instead, our members strive to evaluate the character and drive of the men they recruit, only extending bids to those who reflect the values of a True Gentleman. Yet, even with these stringent standards, Michigan Gamma boasts more than 100 active members and plans to grow its membership to 150 men. Philanthropy and Brotherhood – Brothers understand the value of supporting the community as well as supporting their own. e undergraduates have started a flag football tournament and social media campaign in support of cancer research and a brother who is battling cancer. While an important philanthropic effort, it is an even greater indicator of the strong brotherhood amongst members. Leadership Development – Michigan Gamma alumni have helped send eight to 10 active members to leadership school each summer since the chapter's recolonization. is means that at any given time, at least 25% of chapter has attended leadership school. Athletics – In the 2014-2015 school year, Michigan Gamma was the Greek league champion in intramural football, basketball and soball.
