Chi Zeta Alumni Attend Neville Advisor's College B rothers Dick Prebil '72 X973, Steve Parsons ΦB341 (High Pi), John Crook '72 X980, and Pete Kale '75 X1020 attended a three-day seminar in February at Lambda Chi Alpha's new headquarters in Carmel, Indiana. e annual Neville Advisor's College provides guidance to those brothers directly involved in managing active chapters and addressing the challenges we face. ey were able to exchange ideas with chapters around the country as part of our ongoing efforts to make Chi Zeta one of the best chapters of Lambda Chi Alpha. IN MEMORIAM Glenn Grosse '47 X577 of Waterloo, passed away December 9, 2013. He was very active in the community, serving on the Monroe County Board of Review and was a former bank director at Commercial State Bank of Waterloo. Glenn is survived by his daughter, Julie, and his partner, Nancy. James M. Hackett '55 X667 passed away Christmas Day, 2014, at age 82 aer his battle with cancer. During his career, James was the manager of all farm, city, and mineral property held in trust by e First National Bank of Chicago. is included one of his favorite accounts, Allerton Farms, familiar to all of us. He lived with his wife, Dorothy, in Monticello, Ill. Dana Wandell '71 X964 passed away March 9, 2015. He has two brothers who were Illinois alumni, Jeff Wandell '62 X785 and Dennis Wandell. ALUMNI NEWS James E. Roberts '43 X512 was the first post-WWII president of Chi Zeta, "an unusual time since membership consisted of veterans and non-veterans. It was my fortune that a strong fraternal spirit resulted in a chapter that acted as one—the two groups blended together efficiently." Jim met his wife, Sally, at a dessert exchange with Alpha Gamma Delta in 1946, and they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this year. Jim and Sally live in West Hartford, Conn. He is currently president and co-CEO of C-SPAN and lives in Great Falls, Va., with his wife, Cynthia, a former Lambda Chi Little Sister. E-mail: rgkennedy@gmail.com Alumnus Donates Robert Zuppke Paintings to Chi Zeta D avid Brewer '65 X853 has generously donated two oil paintings by legendary Illinois football coach Robert Zuppke to Chi Zeta. Zuppke coached the Fighting Illini from 1913 until 1942, and is credited with innovations such as the huddle and the flea-flicker. His players included Red Grange and George Halas. Brother Brewer explained the provenance of the works: "My father was Melvin C. Brewer, captain of the 1939 Fighting Illini football team coached by Robert Zuppke. Mr. Zuppke was not only my father's coach; he and my father maintained a friendship up until Zuppke's death in December 1957." e paintings were a gi from Zuppke's widow, and have remained in the Brewer family until now. Zuppke is a listed artist most known for a rather famous painting titled, "e Benchwarmer." e two woodland scenes will be auctioned at the Your Old House event on September 26 to benefit the Our Next 100 Years: Building the Future for Chi Zeta campaign.
