KANSAS SIG page 3 Brothers Excel in Academics and Philanthropy Alpha Xi and KKG Earn Top Honors at Rock Chalk Revue Chapter Earns a 3.2 GPA Alpha Xi finished the fall semester in fourth place out of 27 fraternities with an overall GPA of 3.2. We are working to improve our scholastic achievements beyond where they are now in order to have the highest fraternity GPA on campus. We believe we can accomplish this due to the changes in our scholastic program. Winners of Rock Chalk Revue Another big achievement that Alpha Xi has accomplished was winning Rock Chalk Revue with the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Rock Chalk Revue is a Greek philanthropic event where fraternities and sororities are paired and required to try out in front of a panel of judges. Among 14 pairs, only five are accepted for the show in March. Directors work year-round, writing the script, choreographing dances, as well as creating multiple songs. Our show, "That's the Way the Cookie Crumbles," won 11 out of the 18 awards. These awards included Best Overall Show, Best Male Lead, Best Female Lead, Best Overall Use of Theme, Best Choreography, and Best Chorus. This was due to the countless number of hours put in by the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma and the brothers of Alpha Xi. Helping the Community This spring, we plan on hosting our chapter-wide philanthropy event, Gower Street Cleanup. The brothers of Alpha Xi will go to Gower Street in Lawrence and pick up trash, mulch flowerbeds, and plant bushes and flowers. This helps all the brothers get together in one spot and bond. Informing Our Brothers This semester, we were proud to have Brother Ben Kimbrough '09 host a Sigma Chi journey workshop on sexual assault and misconduct. This program was very interactive and really helped the brothers be more aware of the issues in society and the stereotypes that are placed on fraternities. Supporting Folds of Honor This year, we are excited to host another Derby Days week. Our hope is to raise more than $20,000 and surpass last year's amount raised. The brothers of Alpha Xi really enjoy raising money for the Folds of Honor Foundation that was started by our own Major Dan Rooney '95.
