CLONE PAGE 4 A fter a cold winter we are enjoying spring and are entering the busy season. This spring the chapter will be involved in many events, including our annual philanthropy, Jumpathon, Greek Week with our pairing of Pi Beta Phi and Sigma Pi, and Greek Visit day, which is key for recruitment. The major goal for the chapter going into the summer will be filling the renovated house to capacity at 32 people. The renovation looks beautiful and the members are now working harder than ever with alumni like Alumni Board Properties Manager Eric Van Gorp '01 to keep the house in great shape. In addition to the renovation, the actives have taken on new projects dealing with landscaping, fixing up the Stand in the Gap Study Room (which we highlighted in the last XiClone), and cleaning out less used rooms in the house like the hole, attic, and boiler room. The recruitment chairmen have started the spring strong with the signing of five new members. They look forward to continuing this trend into summer. For Greek Visit Weekend, the recruitment chairmen arranged to have potential new members stay at Phi Kappa Theta during the duration of the weekend. Greek Visit Weekend is an event where high school seniors can come up to Iowa State and stay in different chapter facilities. For member education and risk management, we have had two educational speakers come to the house to talk about sexual assault and alcohol awareness. On March 23, another speaker came in for the academic success center to speak on time management and study habits. The chapter enjoyed participating in Greek Week in March with our partners Sigma Pi and Pi Beta Phi. Our recent success in Homecoming and Greek Week has been noticed by the large chapters on campus as we are the number one choice for Homecoming next year. Jumpathon, the chapter's spring philanthropy, raised money for Children's Miracle Network. We set a trampoline up in the front yard, obtain sponsors, and had one of our members and our partner sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, jumping for 24 hours straight in one hour shifts. Having a sorority help us is great for promoting Jumpathon and therefore helped us raise more money for CMN. Everything is going great at the chapter right now. Recruitment is as good as it has been in a long time, the house looks beautiful and is in great shape, brotherhood is strong, and our alumni and active involvement is excellent. We would like to thank all our alumni who have donated or helped us out with the house the past few months, and invite all alumni who find themselves in the Ames area to stop by the house and check out all the good things that we have going on at PKT. We wish you all well and enjoy the upcoming warm weather. Fraternally, John Jordan '17 Chapter President jjordan@iastate.edu (515) 480-8339 Chapter Focuses on Recruitment, Philanthropy, and Campus Events The Chapter listens to educational speakers on the topic of sexual assault. Congratulations to the men of Phi Kappa Theta on winning the Reformation Bowl for the second year in a row.
